Requirements

An embedded software engineer with experience of working with safety critical and high integrity products is sought by a respected and well established design consultancy, to lead the software development for medical devices.

Our client offers the opportunity to work on a variety of projects with highly qualified, experienced and enthusiastic teams who are experts in a range of disciplines such as mechanical engineering, design, and electronic engineering. Together you will work towards delivering creative, reliable and innovative products that will positively contribute to people’s quality of life.

You will be responsible for the software development within a multi-discipline team, so you must have good practical experience and understanding of the software lifecycle and its management, as well as extensive experience working within quality management systems. A background in developing embedded real-time software in C for micro-controllers is essential. Training on the specific aspects of the relevant medical device procedures will be given, but if you have already had exposure to working in the medical sector, you will be at a distinct advantage.

Minimum experience and skills necessary for this role:

  • In depth experience in a number of areas of software development in safety critical environments - preferably medical
  • Excellent embedded software skills, including real-time programming in C for micro-controllers.
  • Experience of software lifecycle management, change management, risk management and quality management systems.
  • The ability and confidence to lead a team of software developers and to interact directly with clients.

A good degree (2.1 or above) in a relevant technical subject from a Russell Group university will also be necessary, as will full permission to live and work in the UK without time limit, restriction or sponsorship.
