Staff Software Engineering Manager

• Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and guidance to a team of software engineers. Set technical direction, define best practices, and ensure the team’s adherence to coding standards, architectural guidelines, and engineering processes.
• Team Management: Build and lead a high-performing engineering team, including hiring, onboarding, mentoring, and professional development. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Project Management: Collaborate with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to define project goals, scope, and timelines. Drive the successful execution and delivery of complex software projects, balancing technical excellence, business objectives, and resource allocation.
• Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, understand business needs, and translate them into technical solutions. Foster effective collaboration and communication within the team and with external teams.
• Technical Problem Solving: Analyze complex technical problems and propose innovative solutions. Provide guidance and support to the team in overcoming technical challenges and ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions.
• Stakeholder Management: Engage with stakeholders, including senior leaders and executives, to provide project updates, manage expectations, and ensure alignment on technical strategies and priorities.
• Talent Development: Nurture and develop engineering talent through mentorship, coaching, and career development conversations. Provide opportunities for growth and advancement, and support the professional aspirations of team members.
• Quality Assurance: Advocate for and enforce engineering best practices, including code reviews, testing strategies, and continuous integration. Drive a culture of quality and ensure the delivery of high-quality, reliable software solutions.
• Perform other related duties or specialized areas as assigned.

This position will lead a team of highly skilled software engineers, providing technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to drive the successful delivery of complex software projects. The individual will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, technical program managers, and stakeholders, to define technical strategies, set priorities, and ensure the team’s adherence to engineering best practices. This position will require a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and a track record of building and scaling high-performing engineering teams., * Proven experience in a technical leadership or management role, leading and managing software engineering teams.

• Strong technical expertise in one or more programming languages and technology stacks, such as Rust, C++, Python, or others

• Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to navigate complex technical challenges and make sound decisions.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Skills/Abilities/Qualifications:

• Experience in a startup environment
• Autonomous robot software development
• Basic cloud computing technologies (Docker/Podman, Terraform, Security protocols, elastic scale) and embedded computing technologies (Ubuntu/Debian Linux, Systemd, Ostree)

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

The pay range for this position is $253k - $309K + discretionary annual performance bonus . Pay is dependent on the applicant’s relevant experience.
