Job description

All Points is seeking an OpenShift Enterprise Architect to support NASA enterprise infrastructure and application hosting environments. This role provides enterprise architecture, technical leadership, platform governance, and modernization strategy for a complex OpenShift ecosystem hosting mission-critical applications and services. The selected candidate will serve as a senior technical authority responsible for OpenShift architecture, lifecycle planning, multi-cluster governance, security architecture, automation strategy, platform scalability, observability, and enterprise integration initiatives supporting NASA operations.

Remote work restriction: Candidate must reside within 50 miles of a major NASA Facility

DUTIES MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Enterprise Architecture & Platform Strategy

  • Define enterprise OpenShift architecture, including cluster topology, node architecture, compute and storage strategy, and high-availability patterns
  • Develop and maintain architectural standards, deployment workflows, configuration management baselines, reference architectures, and reusable workload patterns
  • Lead platform capacity planning, scalability modeling, performance optimization, and modernization efforts
  • Provide strategic guidance for OpenShift roadmap development and long-term platform evolution

OpenShift Platform Governance & Lifecycle Management

  • Design and govern on-premises and hybrid OpenShift environments
  • Oversee installation, upgrades, cluster expansion, platform lifecycle activities, and infrastructure dependencies
  • Govern namespaces, operators, ingress, storage classes, RBAC, quotas, policies, and pod security standards
  • Provide architectural direction for backup, restore, disaster recovery, observability, workload migrations, and application onboarding

Security Architecture & Compliance

  • Implement enterprise security architecture and Zero Trust principles across OpenShift environments
  • Architect PKI integration, certificate management, TLS enforcement, secrets management, encrypted storage, and secure platform baselines
  • Lead vulnerability remediation, patch management, compliance alignment, and secure configuration strategy

Networking & Infrastructure Architecture

  • Architect routing, ingress, load balancing, DNS integration, service mesh, firewall strategy, egress controls, multitenancy boundaries, and traffic management
  • Define integration patterns with hypervisors, storage platforms, identity providers, and enterprise infrastructure services

Monitoring, Automation & Continuous Improvement

  • Architect enterprise observability solutions utilizing Prometheus, Grafana, Alertmanager, Splunk, or similar monitoring platforms
  • Define enterprise alerting strategies, SLO/SLI metrics, health dashboards, capacity analytics, and operational reporting
  • Establish automation standards utilizing GitOps, ArgoCD, Ansible, Terraform, OpenShift APIs, or similar tools
  • Develop executive briefings, architecture documentation, governance standards, and technical decision packages

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required in one of the following:

  • Information Systems
  • Computer Science
  • Engineering
  • Information Technology
  • Related technical discipline Master’s degree preferred.

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 8+ years of combined OpenShift, Kubernetes, Linux, platform engineering, systems engineering, or enterprise infrastructure experience
  • Senior-level architecture experience supporting enterprise container platform environments required, * OpenShift architecture and enterprise platform design experience
  • OpenShift administration, cluster management, lifecycle support, troubleshooting, and performance tuning
  • Kubernetes architecture and container orchestration expertise
  • Strong Linux administration and systems engineering background
  • Platform governance, configuration management, and operational standards development
  • Enterprise networking knowledge including DNS, load balancing, reverse proxies, firewall rules, ingress, egress controls, and resilient application connectivity
  • Experience developing architectural deliverables, standards, governance documentation, and technical strategies
  • Experience supporting disaster recovery, backup/restore, and high-availability platform architectures
  • Automation experience utilizing GitOps, ArgoCD, Ansible, Terraform, OpenShift APIs, or similar tools
  • Enterprise observability experience utilizing Prometheus, Grafana, Alertmanager, Splunk, or equivalent platforms
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to lead technical discussions across engineering, business, and government stakeholders

  • Multi-cluster OpenShift governance experience
  • Enterprise-scale workload migration experience
  • Jira Service Management or similar enterprise ticketing platforms
  • Python proficiency

Desired Certifications:

  • Current Red Hat OpenShift Administration Certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment

SECURITY CLEARANCE:

  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • NASA Public Trust / badging required, This is a restricted remote position. Candidates must reside within 50 miles of a major NASA facility and be able to support customer and program requirements as needed.

Benefits & conditions

  • $120,000 - $170,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications, Positions with All Points are full-time, direct hire positions and include a comprehensive benefits package.
