Job description

In order to support our Data Processing & Analytics Team as a Backend and DevOps Engineer, Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a, In this role, you will help build, maintain, and scale the infrastructure and backend services powering our data analytics platform. You’ll sit at the intersection of backend software development and modern platform operations (DevOps), working closely with data engineers and analysts to ensure our analytics ecosystem is performant, reliable, and observable., * DevOps Engineering: Contribute to the development and maintenance using Ansible, Gitlab-CI, Helm etc.

  • Database Management: Assist in provisioning, configuring, and maintaining operational databases, specifically MongoDB (NoSQL) and InfluxDB (time-series).
  • Platform Operations & Containerization: Help manage containerized deployments on Kubernetes(RKE) and deploy applications using Helm charts.
  • Observability & Monitoring: Set up and maintain monitoring dashboards and alerting configurations using Prometheus and Grafana to ensure platform uptime and health.
  • Version Control & Shell Automation: Use Git for version control and workflow management, and write basic Unix shell scripts (Bash) for automation and routine system tasks.
  • Collaboration: Participate in code reviews, document setup procedures, and collaborate with senior platform engineers to troubleshoot infrastructure issues.

Requirements

  • An academic degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or an equivalent technical discipline.
  • Technical competencies
  • Backend Programming: Foundational programming skills in at least one or two core languages used across our ecosystem (Go, Python, Java, or Kotlin).
  • Knowledge of DevOps : Ansible, Terraform, Gitlab-CI, Helm, OCI, ArgoCD.
  • Version Control: Proficiency with Git (branching, merging, pull requests, versioning workflows).
  • Linux / Unix Basics: Working knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems and comfort navigating the CLI or writing basic shell scripts.
  • Problem-Solving Mindset: Eager to learn modern infrastructure practices and systematically debug issues across backend code and data pipelines.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Strong analytical mindset with a structured approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within an agile, multicultural team environment.
  • Self-motivated, with a proactive attitude toward learning and skill development.
  • Nice to have :

  • CKA (Certified Kubernetes Administrator) or CKAD (Certified Kubernetes Application Developer)

  • Language Proficiency:
  • English: Professional fluency required
