Job description
Guidehouse is seeking a Data Engineer to join our Defense and Security Segment, where the individual will collect, transform, integrate, and analyze data in support of organizational and mission goals, and support decision-making for financial management and information technology programs within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Accessing data sources, establishing data connections, and developing data ingestion and integration solutions using APIs, databases, file-based interfaces, and enterprise platforms to support data acquisition and pre-processing for analysis.
- Aggregate, clean and organize datasets from disparate sources and perform quality assurance of these tasks
- Design and implement data integration, mapping, and standardization frameworks, including configurable business rules and data crosswalks, to enable interoperability, reconciliation, and reporting across disparate financial and operational systems
- Manipulating large data sets, data mining, and structuring of raw data using open sources tools such as SQL, Python, and PySpark to formulate or recognize patterns to generate new information and unlock information and insights that help the organization drive decision making
- Designing data modeling processes, creating algorithms and predictive models, and performing ad hoc/exploratory data analysis to support data-driven decision making, including use of advanced analytics techniques such as predictive modeling and machine learning
- Ensuring data governance and quality assurance standards are met
- Help define data quality metrics associated with the quality of data ingested into Databricks
- Organizing and leading client meetings, including scheduling meetings; drafting and delivering agendas and meeting minutes; providing and archiving required documentation; and documenting, tracking, and following-up on action items
- Delivery of client services, while also supporting business development, internal firm initiatives, and ongoing professional development
Requirements
- Must be able to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Federal or DoD “PUBLIC TRUST”; candidates must obtain approved adjudication of their PUBLIC TRUST prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an ACTIVE PUBLIC TRUST or SUITABILITY are preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree
- THREE (3) or more years of data experience
- Experience in performing data analytics to address management and operational challenges
- Proficiency in data analytic tools such as SQL, Python, R, and Databricks
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, especially MS PowerPoint, MS Word, and MS Excel
- Prior experience with statistical analysis, predictive modelling, machine learning, and artificial intelligence

- Collaborating and working in a team environment, as well as the ability to work independently
- Identifying and addressing client needs, building relationships with clients, demonstrating flexibility in prioritizing and completing tasks, communicating potential conflicts to a supervisor
- Communicating effectively to various audiences, including various levels of management and external clients, in a professional environment
- Ability to facilitate meetings and present topics to diverse groups of functional and technical staff
- Experience in commercial or public sector consulting firms
- Prior experience supporting federal finance organizations
- Experience with cloud-based platforms and services, including MicrosoftAzure, AWS, or similar cloud environments
- Experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate) and SharePoint
Benefits & conditions
The annual salary range for this position is $113,000.00-$188,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
