Job description

Develop complex satellite systems that address the needs of targeted government and international customers with specific solutions that have the potential to scale. As a systems engineer, you will own complex space segment architecture & integration challenges while collaborating with multi-disciplined teams in a fast-paced, innovative environment., * Responsible for all aspects of space segment systems engineering including performing preliminary concept development, trade studies, CONOPS definition, requirements decomposition and allocation, interface requirements definition, requirements verification and validation, support to integration and test operations, anomaly resolution, risk management, and schedule execution

  • Collaborates with technical program management and product management leadership to ensure successful program execution

  • Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop, and verify space segment products

  • Deep-dives into satellite subsystems functions and interfaces and develop integrated satellite system designs and solutions

  • Coordinates and communicates with subsystem cross-functional engineering teams to ensure system execution

  • Participate in software-to-hardware integration and test activities to ensure mission functionality pre- and post-launch operations

  • Perform technical data analysis, verify, and maintain systems configurations in accordance with defined constraints and operational requirements

  • Performs various analyses to optimize the satellite system and/or system architecture

  • Resolves cross-functional technical issues using facts and data to determine the optimal technical approach

  • Develop and improve systems engineering processes and rigor

Export Control : This position requires that the candidate selected be a U.S. Citizen in order to comply with U.S. government-imposed requirements related to the nature of the work and/or where it will be performed.

This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance of TS/SCI.

About the team

Amazon Leo for Government (ALG) Engineering is a multi-disciplinary technology team established to rapidly address the needs of targeted customers with specific solutions that have the potential to scale. These solutions are tailored to meet the needs of government and international customers for both space-based and terrestrial applications. The Systems Engineering, Integration, Test, and Manufacturing organization under ALG Engineering plays a vital role in the entire life cycle of the development of an engineering solution, including architecture development, requirements and interface definition through assembly, integration, and test (AI&T), verification, and post-delivery and operational support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in Space systems engineering principles and techniques; Power, mass, and other technical performance budgets; Requirements analysis and flow-down; Design verification and validation processes; Configuration management; Satellite level integration and test processes
  • 4+ years of experience in spacecraft systems engineering, Spacecraft design, or a related field, with hands-on experience in satellite design and integration.
  • 4+ years of experience with the derivation and maintenance of requirements from a system level down to lower levels
  • Hands-on experience with spacecraft integration, flatsat testing, hardware-in-the-loop testing, or mission operations
  • 4+ years of experience in the use of standard electronic lab test equipment (i.e. network analyzers, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, function generators, multimeters, etc.), * Master’s degree in engineering, physics, aerospace, or similar field or equivalent experience
  • Participate in software-to-hardware integration and test activities to ensure mission functionality pre- and post-launch operations
  • Perform technical data analysis, verify, and maintain systems configurations in accordance with defined constraints and operational requirements
  • Performs various analyses to optimize the satellite system and/or system architecture
  • Resolves cross-functional technical issues using facts and data to determine the optimal technical approach

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
