Job description

Full-timeWe are currently recruiting for an experienced Network Engineer to join an established communications and technology business in a field-based role.This is an excellent opportunity for a technically capable Network Engineer who enjoys working directly with customers and delivering practical networking solutions across a range of sites.The RoleReporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, commissioning and ongoing support of network equipment at customer premises.Your responsibilities will include:

  • Installing and supporting network infrastructure at customer sites.
  • Configuring and troubleshooting LAN/WAN solutions.
  • Working with switches, firewalls and Wi-Fi infrastructure.
  • Providing remote and office-based technical support where required.
  • Diagnosing faults and delivering effective solutions.
  • Liaising with customers, suppliers, partners and third-party network providers.
  • Providing customer training and technical guidance.
  • Completing installation, configuration and commissioning documentation.
  • Supporting onsite maintenance and network projects.
  • Ensuring customer issues are resolved promptly and professionally.
  • Participating in a 24/7 on-call rota as required.
  • Travelling to customer sites across Northern Ireland, Ireland and the UK.

Requirements

About YouWe are looking for someone with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in Network Engineering or field-based IT Support, with a strong understanding of networking technologies.Essential:

  • CCNA or JNCIA qualification, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong understanding of LAN/WAN networking.
  • Experience diagnosing and resolving technical issues.
  • Excellent customer-facing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Flexibility to travel and work outside normal hours when required.

Desirable:

  • Cisco, Juniper and/or Fortinet experience.
  • CCNP, JNCIS or equivalent experience.
  • Fortinet switching and firewall experience.
  • Ubiquiti Wi-Fi experience.
  • Extreme Networks experience.
  • Firewall certification.
  • Cat5 cabling and fibre splicing experience.

You’ll need to be adaptable, resilient and confident dealing with customers on site, while also being comfortable working independently and managing your own workload.

Benefits & conditions

This is a field-based position offering a salary of £40,000-£45,000, with the opportunity to work across a varied customer base and develop your technical expertise.
