Systems Engineering Firmware Radio-Frequency Identification Systems Architecture Systems Integration

Job description

We are working with a high tech defence organisation in Bristol seeking a Systems Architect to provide technical direction and systems ownership across a specialist Electronic Warfare (EW) programme.

This is a standalone senior technical role, acting as a key technical authority across the programme. You will work closely with an established international engineering team to integrate and adapt technology for UK-developed defence systems, with a particular focus on RESM, RF signal conditioning and associated firmware.

The Role

  • Provide systems across the programme.
  • Act as a key UK technical authority for the hardware and system architecture.
  • Lead the technical approach for EW/RESM systems, including RF signal conditioning and firmware interfaces.
  • Work closely with international engineering teams to transfer and adapt technology into robust UK solutions.
  • Provide technical oversight across system architecture, development, integration and verification.
  • Collaborate with systems, RF, hardware, firmware and wider engineering teams to ensure effective system integration.
  • Support the development and evolution of specialist naval Electronic Warfare / MEWSIC capability.
  • Operate as a senior individual contributor with no direct reports.

Requirements

  • Strong background in Systems Engineering / Systems Architecture within defence, aerospace or another high-assurance environment.
  • Experience working with Electronic Warfare, RESM, RF systems or related technologies.
  • Good understanding of RF signal conditioning and hardware/firmware interfaces.
  • Comfortable taking technical ownership and acting as a senior technical authority within a wider engineering organisation.
  • Experience working across international engineering teams and technology transfer would be highly advantageous.
  • Able to work independently while providing credible technical leadership across multidisciplinary engineering teams.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-tech defence organisation in Bristol, working on cutting-edge Electronic Warfare technology within a specialist engineering environment and playing a key role in the development of next generation naval defence capability.
