Job description
- Seeking a contract infrastructure engineer to provide dedicated support for our on-premises Nutanix environment. This is a steady-state operations and maintenance role, not a transformation role. The environment will be migrated to Microsoft Azure over the course of the contract term, and this resource is responsible for keeping the current platform healthy, patched, and stable through cutover.
- Day-to-day administration of Nutanix AOS and AHV clusters via Prism Element and Prism Central
- Cluster health monitoring, alert triage, and capacity management

VM lifecycle management, snapshots, and storage container administration Patching and lifecycle management
- Execute the monthly patching cycle using Nutanix Life Cycle Manager (LCM), covering AOS, AHV, Prism Central, and node firmware/BMC/BIOS
- Run and remediate NCC health checks ahead of and following each maintenance window
- Maintain the upgrade calendar and keep the environment within supported version ranges

Plan and document maintenance windows, including rollback plans Availability and resilience
- Administer Nutanix native data protection (protection domains, async replication) and support backup and recovery operations
- Participate in disaster recovery testing

Incident response and root cause analysis, including participation in an on-call rotation Documentation and knowledge transfer
- Build and maintain runbooks, configuration documentation, and operational procedures.
Requirements
- 5+ years of infrastructure engineering experience in production enterprise environments
- 3+ years hands-on with Nutanix AOS and AHV in a production setting, including Prism Central, LCM, NCC, and Foundation
- Demonstrated experience owning a recurring patching and upgrade cycle
- Windows Server administration with a working knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and certificates
- Network fundamentals: VLANs, subnets, ACLs, and switching as they relate to cluster and host configuration
- Experience with high-availability production systems (clustering, failover, load balancing)
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work a change-controlled environment with formal approvals

Must be able to work in the US and pass a federal background check Preferred Qualifications
- Nutanix certification (NCP-MCI or higher)
- Experience supporting infrastructure in a FISMA or FedRAMP environment
- Automation and scripting: PowerShell, Ansible, or the Nutanix REST API
- VMware or Hyper-V exposure alongside AHV
