Job description

As a Network Technician I, you will join DoIT’s support team serving multiple county sites and offices in downtown Martinez. This branch supports a diverse range of departments and staff, including VIPs and elected officials, requiring flexibility, professionalism, and a commitment to exceptional service. Your role will include providing desktop and network support across sites, assisting users with varying technical backgrounds, and collaborating with Network Administrators on projects. The position calls for strong technical skills, clear communication, and the ability to deliver white-glove service in high-profile environments while ensuring reliable IT services for all staff., * Troubleshooting Technical Issues: Identify and resolve system-related problems promptly across multiple sites.

  • Providing User Support: Provide technical assistance to users to ensure smooth operations and exceptional service.
  • Maintaining Documentation and Reports: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of support activities and system configurations.
  • Providing Training and Sharing Knowledge: Train end users on network-related topics and best practices, including security protocols and the efficient use of network resources.
  • Providing Remote Support: Support end users and remote offices by addressing network issues and ensuring consistent access to resources across locations.
  • Collaborating on Projects: Contribute technical knowledge and insights to cross-functional IT projects and system upgrades.
  • Supporting Audio-Visual Systems: Assist, as assigned, with the design, support, and improvement of audio-visual equipment and spaces, including indoor meeting spaces and outdoor events.

Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.

Out of State valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s License will be accepted during the application process. Education: Possession of an Associates of Arts degree from an accredited college or university with a major in computer science or information processing OR completion of 24 semester units or 36 quarter units in computer science or information systems

Experience: One (1) year of full-time experience performing computer and network systems equipment installation duties.

Substitution for Education: (1) Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis, up to a maximum of two (2) years. (2) Possession of a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification or other comparable network-focused certifications at an equivalent or higher level may substitute for six (6) months of the required education per certification, up to a maximum of two (2) years., * Certifications: CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or related certifications.

  • Cloud Expertise: Proficiency in AWS, Azure, or other cloud technologies.
  • Programming Skills: Knowledge of Python, PowerShell, or similar languages.
  • Security Frameworks: Knowledge of security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, or CIS to ensure comprehensive security measures.
  • Vendor Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, Tanium Certified Operator, vendor-specific certifications, Tesira Certifications, Crestron Certifications, Dante Digital Audio Certification Levels 1 - 3.
  • Audio Visual Expertise: Some experience in designing, supporting, and innovating audio-visual equipment or spaces. Including both indoor meeting spaces and outdoor events.
