Job description

Database Administration:

  • Optimize database performance by improving queries, defragging indexes, shrinking databases, and offloading legacy data at scale.
  • Manage the SQL Enterprise environment, nodes, clusters, servers, availability groups and databases with a goal of high performance, efficiency, and redundancy.

Development:

  • Translate business needs into long-term data architecture solutions
  • Evaluate reusability of current data for separate analysis
  • Provides analysis, design and development of SQL code. Debugs and resolves data errors.

General:

  • Participate in team meetings for alignment, strategy, architecture, and direction purposes.
  • Utilization of ai tools like Claude for optimization and efficiency
  • Other Duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 7+ years’’ combined experience in SQL development and database administration, or equivalent experience in a similar hybrid role
  • 7+ years’’ experience coding in T-SQL including queries, stored procedures and functions

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities »

  • Practical experience with SQL Standard and SQL Enterprise along with Availability Groups in a complex environment
  • Experience creating data models for OLTP or OLAP (star schema preferred)
  • Experience with a data warehouse, data vault, data marts or SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) tabular model
  • Experience with Power BI
  • Experience with ETL using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
  • Experience analyzing, maintaining, testing, troubleshooting and performance tuning existing code
  • Ability to identify and define relationships between objects
  • Some experience with a fixed-format reporting tool such as SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Tableau or Crystal Reports/Business Objects
  • Advanced Excel skills using pivot tables, Power Pivot and Power Query
  • Experience with software version control using TFS/VSTS or Git
  • Experience with Agile software development
