Job description
The AI Systems Engineer will serve as a hands-on technical contributor responsible for building and maintaining the Azure infrastructure, document pipelines, integrations, and data architecture supporting the organization’s AI ecosystem. This position will develop secure internal and client-facing AI applications while working with document ingestion, RAG, vector search, LLM integrations, and legal technology platforms. Reporting to senior technology and operations leadership, this role is well suited for an engineer who enjoys focused technical work, production ownership, and solving complex data and integration challenges., * Build, operate, and monitor Azure infrastructure supporting AI workloads, including Azure Container Apps, Static Web Apps, Azure Functions, Cosmos DB, Azure Key Vault, Entra Application Proxy, SSO, and Conditional Access.
- Design and maintain production document-ingestion pipelines that extract content from enterprise document systems, process it through Azure Document Intelligence and Content Understanding, preserve important metadata, and load the results into vector and hybrid-search indexes.
- Develop and support the back-end components of internal and client-facing AI applications, including REST APIs, integrations, agent logic, retrieval pipelines, MCP servers, workflow automation, authentication, and databases.
- Architect and optimize RAG systems, Azure AI Search, Cosmos DB, vector stores, document schemas, ontologies, taxonomies, embedding-based retrieval, and retrieval-evaluation frameworks.
- Maintain integrations and data flows among Azure AI services, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Graph API, SharePoint Online, iManage Cloud, Copilot, Claude Enterprise, Harvey AI, and other AI and legal technology platforms.
- Own application and integration reliability, including monitoring, troubleshooting, performance, version management, GitHub Enterprise release processes, documentation, data governance, access controls, data residency, and ethical-wall compliance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, AI engineering, or a related field, including hands-on experience supporting production systems.
- Demonstrated experience with Azure AI Foundry, Azure AI Search, Azure Document Intelligence, Azure Content Understanding, Azure Functions, Container Apps, Cosmos DB, Key Vault, etc…
- Experience designing and implementing document-ingestion pipelines involving OCR, text extraction, metadata preservation, chunking, embeddings, vector indexing, and hybrid search.
- Hands-on experience building or operating RAG architectures, LLM-integrated applications, vector stores, back-end services, REST APIs, OAuth integrations, API-key controls, and webhook-based workflows.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Graph API, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Copilot 365, Copilot Studio, custom connectors, agent development, MCP server configuration, and enterprise identity or access-management practices.
- Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts when required. Experience with iManage Cloud, Claude Enterprise, Harvey AI, CoCounsel, Patlytics, legal technology, document schemas, React, or compliance-sensitive environments is preferred.
