Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION: To assist the instructor in providing a well-organized, smoothly functioning class environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials., * To assist the teacher/director in all areas of classroom and lab activities, including a variety of activities as prescribed by the teacher.

  • To render services as required.
  • To assist with the education process, present materials, teacher-directed activities, and operation of lab equipment.
  • To work with students in the Advertising Design & New Media program or on location under the teacher’s instruction and supervision.
  • To collaboratively plan visits to industry for NACTC students to participate in career awareness activities.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by the teacher and/or Director of Newport Area Career & Technical Center., In accordance with the Local 841 contract-
  • Technical Assistant. 32.5 hours per week. ½ hour unpaid lunch.
  • 10 month position
  • Pay grade 5

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or high school equivalency certificate.
  • Be of good character
  • Completion of a Teacher Assistant Pre-Employment Training Program approved by the RI Department of Education (RIDE).

  • Meet one of the following three requirements:

  • Completed at least two years (48 credits) of study at an institution of higher education; or
  • Obtained an associate’s degree or higher; or
  • Met a rigorous standard of quality and can demonstrate through a formal state or local academic assessment: knowledge and ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics; or reading, writing, and mathematics readiness

Four (4) years of successful experience in “Graphic Communications” which includes any of the following disciplines; desktop publishing, graphic designing, screen printing, sublimation printing, embroidery/sewing, vinyl and or photography/video preferred.

Ability to establish professional rapport with students and teachers.

Experience acquired through either secondary or post-secondary training at an accredited institution, or apprentice training from work-related experience in the Graphic Communications industry.

Software and Computer skills; knowable on the Macintosh Apple computer system, Adobe Creative Suite CC 2020, Stitch Era, Sign Lab and Versa Works

Demonstrated ability to perform the responsibilities below as evidenced by course work, previous experience, and the interview process.
