Job description

Shamrock is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer that will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing our organization’s systems infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and security. This position is responsible for driving change in technology through advanced communication skills, automation skills, and the ability to make recommendations around future architecture.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, deploy, and proactively maintain cloud technologies, on-premises systems, and other related technologies using Infrastructure-as-Code principles, to ensure maximum uptime and security.
  • Lead and execute troubleshooting exercises to resolve escalated technical issues.
  • Work effectively with other teams within the Technology department and 3rd party vendors.
  • Lead technical project planning and ensure milestones/tasks are completed on time.
  • Provide peer review for change requests ensuring they meet our technical standards.
  • Efficiently prioritize triage issues; perform root cause analysis.
  • Take the initiative to improve our operations and stay educated on the latest relevant technologies.
  • Implement automations to improve engineer and end-user efficiency.
  • Consistently follow organizational policies, such as access, change, incident, and problem management.
  • Take part in the development of technical processes and documentation.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and be onsite as needed.
  • Other duties, as needed.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in a technical field or evidence of exceptional ability.
  • 5+ years of experience in Active Directory administration and troubleshooting.
  • 5+ years of experience in automation of tasks via PowerShell and SCCM.
  • 5+ years of experience in VMWare patching and administration.
  • 2+ years of experience deploying and administering production systems in AWS.
  • Deep understanding of data center architecture, maintenance, and repair.
  • Deep understanding of Windows Server operating systems.
  • Advanced experience with application virtualization technology (Citrix and RemoteApp).
  • Advanced production experience administering backup systems.
  • Advanced production experience administering monitoring systems.
  • Some experience with Linux administration.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must possess a passion for technology, the ability to learn new skills quickly, and the ability to mentor junior team members.
  • Must possess initiative and analytical skills to resolve issues before they become critical.
  • Must possess strong people skills and the ability to work as a team member, collaborating and partnering with internal and external team members to address issues.
  • Must be self-motivated, able to respond quickly when on-call, and willing to work outside the core area.
  • Administration experience: Nutanix, Pure Storage, Rubrik, Zabbix
  • Deployment experience: Terraform, Git, Ansible, AWX, Jenkins
  • Preferred VMware VCP certified
