Job description

We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Machine Operator to join our production team. In this role, you will operate specialized manufacturing and recycling equipment used to process raw and recycled materials into finished products. Responsibilities include machine setup, operation, troubleshooting, quality inspections, forklift operation, preventive maintenance, documentation, and housekeeping activities.

This position plays a critical role in ensuring production efficiency, product quality, and workplace safety while meeting customer requirements and production deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Equipment Operation

  • Operate and monitor manufacturing and processing equipment with minimal supervision
  • Set up, adjust, troubleshoot, and maintain machinery using touchscreen controls, control panels, and mechanical systems
  • Operate tire grinding, wire removal, granulation, packaging, and material processing equipment
  • Monitor material flow and equipment performance throughout production
  • Ensure finished products meet quality standards and customer specifications
  • Conduct quality inspections, sieve analysis testing, bulk density testing, and flow rate testing
  • Identify and report mechanical issues and production concerns
  • Complete production documentation, inventory tracking, and data entry accurately

Material Handling

  • Operate forklifts and skid steer loaders to transport raw materials and finished goods
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections and complete required pre-shift checks
  • Safely load, unload, and move materials throughout the facility
  • Maintain powered industrial equipment in clean working condition

Maintenance & Housekeeping

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and equipment cleaning
  • Follow lockout/tagout procedures when entering equipment for cleaning or maintenance
  • Conduct visual inspections and report maintenance needs
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Participate in workplace organization and continuous improvement initiatives

Communication & Teamwork

  • Communicate production, safety, and quality concerns to supervisors and team leads
  • Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to resolve equipment issues
  • Cross-train in other operational areas as needed
  • Participate in safety meetings, production meetings, and departmental training

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED OR 4 years of manufacturing/machine operator experience
  • Minimum 6 months of forklift or powered industrial truck experience
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Basic computer and data entry skills
  • Basic math skills and ability to work with measurements
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to work safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work overtime as needed

Preferred

  • Experience operating manufacturing, recycling, or industrial processing equipment
  • Front-end loader or skid steer experience
  • Experience with ERP systems and production data entry
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Mechanical troubleshooting experience

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Frequent bending, reaching, climbing, stooping, pushing, and pulling
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 20 pounds frequently
  • Manual dexterity to operate machinery, tools, and material handling equipment
  • Ability to work safely around industrial equipment and moving machinery
