Our client, profitable, well-funded and growing at 30% YoY, is looking for a Lead Engineer DevOps engineer to head up their DevOps function. Having found product / market fit, now is a key inflection point as they embark on a major re-engineering effort to position themselves for scale and to support the large backlog of clients ready to onboard to their platform.

As an established Lead DevOps specialist, you’ll have experience of the following:

  • 8-12 years in DevOps/SRE, with at least 2+ years in a leadership or mentorship role.
  • Proven expertise with Terraform for IaC.
  • Advanced knowledge of AWS cloud services (EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, VPC, Lambda, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with Cloudflare configuration and management.
  • Strong track record building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions preferred).
  • Experience designing observability solutions for distributed/cloud-native systems.
  • Strong knowledge of DevSecOps practices and security-first mindset.
  • Proven ability to mentor, lead, and grow teams in fast-paced environments.
  • Collaborating effectively with a technically astute product team
  • Driving technical excellence across all stages of the product lifecycle
  • Coaching, mentoring and growing an established mid-level team who are eager to learn from you
  • Working in a start-up / scale-up environment where you enjoyed having a broad impact, close proximity to leadership and seeing first-hand the impact of your efforts
  • Seeing the value being on-site 4 days a week has in building culture, fostering innovation, and supporting effective communication.
  • Any experience with Snowflake would be a real bonus for this role.

If you’re an experienced DevOps Engineer excited to take the lead with greenfield development, in a rapid-scale environment, growing a team around you, we’d love to hear from you.

This is a hybrid role and the successful applicant will be required to work from our client’s central London office 4 days a week, with 1 day working from home.

Strong DevOps engineers are promised a response within 24 hours of application.

The Difference Engine is a recruitment company working on behalf of its client.
