Job description

We are Two Circles, a Sports & Entertainment Marketing business that grows audiences and revenues by knowing fans best. We help clients understand and influence what their fans are doing across channels, content, and spending, using that insight to grow their audiences and revenues for both direct-to-consumer and B2B. Our platforms and services are trusted by more than 1,000 clients globally, including the English Premier League, Red Bull, UEFA, VISA, the NFL, Nike, and Amazon. We have over 1,000 people in 15 offices worldwide delivering work for sports and entertainment businesses of all shapes and sizes.

JOB DESCRIPTION

As part of our exciting growth journey, we are expanding our Software Engineering team and looking for a talented Senior Software Engineer to join us on a hybrid basis at our London office. This is a rare chance to work on high-impact greenfield products for some of the biggest and most iconic sports brands in the world. You’ll be at the forefront of building modern, scalable software from the ground up, helping shape the future of fan engagement across global sport.

In this role, you won’t just write great code-you’ll provide technical leadership, drive engineering excellence, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring bold ideas to life. Whether it’s advising clients on the right technology solutions or steering innovative consulting projects, you’ll have a seat at the table where strategic tech decisions are made.

You will also play a pivotal role in shaping our evolving technology strategy, influencing the direction of our engineering culture and practices, and helping us build an environment where developers thrive and make meaningful change.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write clean, reusable code following best practices while helping to define coding standards and team conventions.
  • Advocate for developer experience and continuously improve it.
  • Encourage a blameless culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
  • Lead and influence the technical design, architecture, and development of digital projects.
  • Work closely with Engineering Managers, Engineering Leads, and Product Managers to understand problems and define technical scope for global sports properties.
  • Set up software development frameworks for release management, automation, code quality, and source control.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to other Two Circles engineers.
  • Keep up to date on emerging technologies and trends in sports technology.
  • Be present in our London office for 2 days a week and occasionally travel to other London and EMEA offices as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years of software engineering experience.
  • High proficiency in TypeScript, React, and Next.js; Node.js experience is desirable.
  • Experience in a CI/CD environment using tools such as CircleCI, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
  • Understanding of DevOps and platform engineering culture, with experience building and shipping code to cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
  • Experience with agile development practices, continuous integration, and test automation (unit, integration, contract, E2E).
  • Proficiency in monitoring application performance and health using tools like Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, or Sentry.
  • Strong passion for building performant applications.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills with pragmatic solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to articulate solutions to varied audiences and collaborate effectively.
  • Desirable: experience building services for high-traffic systems.

Benefits

  • Hybrid working - at least 2-3 days a week in our London office, especially during onboarding.
  • Performance planning - potential salary increase every 6 months and career progression.
  • Discretionary company bonus.
  • Tickets to sporting events.
  • Renowned Team Days and events (e.g., recent trip to Spain).
  • Lunch on Wednesdays, breakfast, and continuous supply of snacks.
  • Private healthcare schemes.
  • Cycle to work scheme.
  • Learning and development opportunities, including certifications.

Though these are the basics, we will primarily recruit for energy, values, and commitment - both to Two Circles and to your career.

Our recruitment process will be honest and thorough, as will our roles. In return, we can offer honesty, integrity, and the chance to progress rapidly with the organization.

Two Circles is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal-opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, colour, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status.
