Wireless Systems Engineer, 3GPP Core Network Standards

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced engineer/researcher to contribute to the development of the next generation of wireless communication technologies. The role focuses on 6G System Architecture and Core Network technology, including research, analysis, and design of core network architectures, interfaces, protocols, non-access stratum (NAS) protocols, AI/ML procedures, and participation in 3GPP standardization.

Responsibilities

• Research, analyze and design core network architectures, interfaces and protocols for next generation networks.
• Research, analyze and design interfaces and protocols between 6G core networks and radio access networks.
• Research, analyze and design non-access stratum (NAS) protocols between user equipment and Core Network for 6G.
• Research, analyze and design AI/ML procedures for 6G network, and enhance 6G Network to assist AI/ML applications.
• Contribute to the definition of InterDigital’s 6G System Architecture & Core Network technology roadmap.
• Actively participate in the 3GPP Standardization process through preparation of company contributions and representing InterDigital at 3GPP System Architecture (SA) & Core Network & Terminals (CT) Working Group (WG) meetings.

Qualifications & Requirements

• B.Eng., M.S., or Ph.D. (preferred) in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• At least 7-10 years of experience in wireless communications.
• Experience in design and/or research in wireless air interfaces and systems.
• Experience and/or knowledge of 3GPP Standards, preferably including SA2 and CT1 WGs.
• Strong analytical, technical, innovative and leadership skills.
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, innovative, collaborative and team-oriented work environment.
• Dedicated, result-oriented professional with an attitude for getting the job done.
• Willing to take challenges in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
