Job description

Location: Hybrid - Onsite once a fortnight in London

We are working with an innovative digital consultancy client to find a talented Lead Ruby Engineer to join their team. This is a great opportunity for an experienced Ruby expert who is passionate about building high-performance applications and driving technical excellence.

As the Lead Ruby Engineer, you’ll play a key role in designing, developing, and scaling software solutions for clients across various sectors. This position involves hands-on coding, mentorship, and collaboration, allowing you to influence the development approach and ensure the delivery of top-quality, secure, and scalable products. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams and have the opportunity to shape best practices within the engineering group.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead development of Ruby on Rails applications, ensuring high performance, quality, and responsiveness.
  • Architect and build robust, scalable solutions that meet client requirements.
  • Mentor and support a team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Optimize and improve application performance and code quality.
  • Stay updated with the latest Ruby developments and advocate for best practices in coding, testing, and deployment.

Beneficial Experience:

  • Extensive experience with Ruby on Rails and a strong command of full-stack web development.
  • Proven track record in leading development projects and guiding technical teams.
  • Strong understanding of modern software design principles, including RESTful services and microservices.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure) and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
