Job description
We are seeking individuals with experience and a passion for software integration and testing of real-time, embedded software. The Software Integration Engineer plans and performs a variety of tasks across the areas of integrating hardware modules into a combat vehicle system, integrating software items onto Linux Operating Systems, scripting, networking, cybersecurity hardening and scans, troubleshooting, problem solving, and software verification testing. Duties:
- Integrates and tests software applications running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux and hardware components on a combat vehicle system * Applies knowledge of Ethernet and CAN bus within software applications or tools to test and troubleshoot problems
- Collaborates with multidisciplinary engineering and vehicle test teams to investigate reported issues and analyze collected data
- Ensures that technical approach is consistent with established engineering principles and practices
- Ensures that product outcomes meet customer needs and that customer and company technical, system, performance, process, and quality requirements are met
Requirements
- Integration and testing of software applications on Red Hat Enterprise Linux Operating Systems
- Ability to build and maintain a software and hardware integration testbed
- Understanding of Ethernet and CAN bus protocols
- Git and Jira/Gitlab Configuration Management tools
- Exceptional communication (verbal and written) skills are a MUST
- Familiarity with current computer applications and technologies in applicable engineering disciplines
- Ability to apply critical thinking to solve technical design and development problems
- Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with customers to solve technical problems
- Ability to travel to the customer site
- Ability to work on combat vehicles systems. Skills Preferred: Familiarity with relevant military and commercial design standards Familiarity with MIL-STD-1553 Familiarity with UML modeling tools Familiarity with DOORS Familiarity with CMMI for development Familiarity with embedded systems Familiarity with VxWorks or other RTOS Familiarity with C and C++ programming Familiarity with scripting languages (Bash, PowerShell, Python) Familiarity with Qt Framework for front end GUIs utilizing QML Familiarity with Ethernet based protocols (SSL/TLS, SSH, SFTP) Familiarity with Nessus and Coverity cybersecurity scans Familiarity with hardening of systems and applying STIG rules Familiarity with the configuration and use of virtual machines Experience Required: Minimum of 2 years of experience in software integration Integration of software applications on Red Hat Enterprise Linux Packaging software as RPMs and binary executables Drivers, shared objects, and static libraries Experience Preferred: Experience in architectural level software design using Magic Draw, Enterprise Architect, or similar model-based engineering tool (software developers) Experience using NI Test Stand Familiarity with combat vehicle functionality and capability Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in STEM field Education Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science
