Base pay range

Automation Test Lead - £75K - Leicester or Bridgend (3 days a week) - Java

About the role

La Fosse is partnering with a global financial services organisation to hire an experienced Automation Test Lead. This is an excellent opportunity to take a leadership role in shaping testing strategy, mentoring QA engineers, and ensuring high-quality software delivery within a fast-paced, modern development environment. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in Java-based automation and a passion for building scalable, maintainable test frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of test automation frameworks across projects.
  2. Collaborate with engineering, DevOps, and product teams to embed quality into the development lifecycle.
  3. Mentor and guide junior QA team members, promoting best practices in test automation and agile testing.
  4. Champion a shift-left approach to testing and drive improvements in automation coverage and efficiency.

Key Requirements

  1. Strong hands-on experience with Java-based automation frameworks.
  2. Proven experience in leading QA/automation efforts in agile environments.
  3. Familiarity with Python is a plus, but not essential.
  4. Expertise in tools like Selenium, REST-assured, TestNG, or JUnit.
  5. Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, or similar.
  6. Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and influence quality-focused decisions.
