Role Summary
We are looking for an Technical Application Architect with strong hands-on expertise to lead the evolution of a legacy application landscape, combining architecture redesign, code modernization, database refactoring, and performance enhancement. This role demands a solid grasp of PHP-based architecture and the capability to design future-ready solutions while actively contributing to development, migration initiatives, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and define the target application architecture for a legacy PHP-based system
- Lead code modernization efforts, including refactoring legacy PHP code and introducing modern PHP frameworks where applicable
- Analyze, refactor, and optimize database stored procedures, reducing tight coupling between application and database layers
- Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance APIs
- Drive application and database performance optimization, including query tuning and application profiling
- Lead and enforce coding standards, code reviews, and architectural best practices
- Actively contribute hands-on development in PHP and secondary technology stacks
- Lead migration initiatives (platform, framework, or infrastructure modernization) with minimal business disruption
- Implement and improve DevOps best practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, deployments, and monitoring
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into clean, maintainable technical solutions
- Ensure system stability, security, and operational excellence across environments
- Ensure GenAI exposure
Required Technical Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with PHP and PHP frameworks (Laravel, Symfony, Zend, or legacy frameworks)
- Deep expertise in legacy code refactoring and modernization
- Strong experience with database design, stored procedures, SQL performance tuning, and refactoring
- Strong coding experience in at least one secondary language: Node.js / Java / .NET
- Hands-on experience with Apache and IIS, including configuration and performance tuning
- Strong understanding of DevOps practices (CI/CD, version control, automated builds, deployment strategies)
- Experience with application and database performance optimization
DevOps & Operational Expertise
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using industry-standard tools
- Knowledge of environment management, logging, monitoring, and alerting
- Understanding of release management, rollback strategies, and production support best practices
- Exposure to infrastructure automation and configuration management
Nice to Have
- Experience modernizing monolithic applications into modular or service-oriented architectures
- Exposure to cloud platforms and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Knowledge of security best practices for web applications
- Experience working in enterprise or regulated environments
