Job description

ProSearch is seeking a Cloud Engineer to help lead the architecture, design, and delivery of a next-generation Enterprise Communications Platform. This platform supports secure, scalable, and reliable customer communications across email, SMS, print, APIs, event-driven systems, and cloud-native services.

This is a highly visible technical leadership role for an experienced engineer with expertise in AWS, distributed systems, cloud-native architecture, microservices, event-driven architecture, API design, software security, CI/CD, DevOps, observability, and platform engineering. The successful candidate will help shape technical strategy, guide architecture decisions, mentor engineering teams, and build enterprise-scale systems capable of delivering millions of customer communications reliably and securely.

The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strong leadership skills and enjoys solving complex engineering challenges while influencing technical direction across multiple teams.

Responsibilities

Platform Architecture & Technical Leadership

  • Define and evolve the architecture for an enterprise communications platform supporting email, SMS, print, and future communication channels.
  • Design scalable, highly available, resilient, and secure distributed systems.
  • Establish reusable architecture patterns, engineering standards, and platform capabilities.
  • Lead architecture reviews and guide engineering teams through complex technical decisions.
  • Define APIs, event-driven integration patterns, and service contracts.
  • Ensure solutions meet enterprise requirements for security, disaster recovery, observability, performance, and capacity planning.

Engineering Strategy & Innovation

  • Research emerging technologies, cloud services, messaging capabilities, and engineering practices.
  • Lead proof-of-concept initiatives and technology evaluations.
  • Influence technology selection and build-versus-buy decisions.
  • Define and evolve the platform technology roadmap.
  • Champion cloud-native architecture, automation, developer experience, and modern engineering practices.

Technical Leadership & Mentorship

  • Mentor senior engineers and technical leads across multiple teams.
  • Lead design reviews, architecture discussions, and engineering initiatives.
  • Promote software design excellence, operational maturity, and engineering best practices.
  • Build strong partnerships across Engineering, Product, Security, Infrastructure, and Operations teams.

Platform Reliability & Operational Excellence

  • Develop secure, maintainable, and reusable platform components.
  • Establish coding standards, code review processes, and engineering governance.
  • Define testing strategies across unit, integration, contract, performance, and resiliency testing.
  • Drive CI/CD improvements, deployment automation, and DevOps best practices.
  • Analyze production performance and lead root-cause analysis efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including significant experience designing enterprise-scale distributed systems.
  • Experience serving as a Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer, Cloud Architect, or equivalent technical leadership role.
  • Deep expertise designing and operating cloud-native solutions on AWS.
  • Experience with microservices, distributed systems, APIs, event-driven architectures, and asynchronous messaging systems.
  • Strong understanding of software security, resiliency, scalability, and performance engineering.
  • Experience influencing technical strategy across multiple teams and organizations.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to technical and business stakeholders.
  • Experience developing distributed systems using modern programming languages such as Python, Go, JavaScript/TypeScript, or C#.
  • Experience working across backend services and modern web applications., Experience with one or more of the following:
  • Enterprise communications or notification platforms
  • Customer Communications Management (CCM)
  • Omnichannel messaging platforms
  • Email, SMS, and print delivery solutions
  • Twilio, SendGrid, AWS SES, Azure Communication Services, or similar messaging services
  • Kafka, Event Hubs, or other event-streaming technologies
  • Workflow orchestration platforms
  • Customer preference and consent management systems
  • Document generation and template management solutions

The salary range for this role reflects the minimum and maximum compensation for the position. Offers are typically made between the range minimum and the range midpoint. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, and expertise, as evaluated during the interview process. Compensation may also vary based on where a role is performed.
