Job description
Working as part of an experienced project and commercial team, the Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for maintaining strong commercial controls, managing subcontractor relationships, supporting procurement, and ensuring projects are delivered in line with agreed budgets, programmes, and contractual requirements., * Managing commercial and quantity surveying activities across major construction projects.
- Preparing monthly and periodic commercial reports, forecasts, and cost reports.
- Managing project budgets, cost control, valuations, cash flow, and financial forecasting.
- Leading commercial management across major construction, MEP, and specialist subcontract packages.
- Preparing and managing tender processes, procurement strategies, and subcontract negotiations.
- Managing subcontractor accounts, variations, claims, change control, and final account agreements.
- Reviewing contracts and ensuring commercial and contractual obligations are effectively managed.
- Working closely with project management, engineering, design, procurement, and technical teams.
- Supporting the commercial delivery of complex construction and infrastructure packages.
- Maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Attending project, commercial, and client meetings.
- Identifying commercial risks and opportunities and implementing appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Ensuring commercial performance remains aligned with project programme, quality, and delivery requirements.
Requirements
- 5+ yearsâ experience within a Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management role.
- Experience working on major construction, infrastructure, MEP, industrial, data centre, healthcare, or other technically complex projects.
- Strong understanding of subcontract procurement, cost control, valuations, change management, and commercial reporting.
- Good knowledge of construction contracts and commercial management processes.
- Experience managing subcontractors and negotiating commercial agreements.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, consultants, contractors, design teams, and supply chain partners.
- Ability to manage multiple commercial workstreams within a fast-paced project environment.
- Experience working within an international construction environment would be advantageous.
- German language skills would be highly advantageous, particularly for candidates working within the Swiss construction market.
- Candidates with existing experience in Switzerland or a strong understanding of the Swiss construction market are encouraged to apply.
- Proven stability and longevity within previous roles.
