| Senior Consultant & Manager Levels | Location: Newcastle or Manchester or Dublin (Hybrid) |
We are supporting a global professional services organisation as they continue to scale their Cloud, Engineering, AI & Data capability. They are hiring multiple GCP Platform Engineers to design, build, and operate secure, scalable cloud platforms that underpin critical data, analytics, and AI workloads for enterprise clients across the UK. These roles sit within a modern engineering environment that values automation-first delivery, platform thinking, and collaborative consulting.
The Role
As a GCP Platform Engineer, you’ll work on the full lifecycle of cloud platforms - from architecture and build through to optimisation, security, and operational excellence.
- Design and engineer GCP landing zones and platform solutions aligned to best practice
- Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred)
- Enable secure, scalable environments supporting data, AI, and analytics workloads
- Implement CI/CD pipelines and platform automation
- Embed security, governance, and cost optimisation into platform design
- Support workload migrations and cloud-native application enablement
- Collaborate with architects, data engineers, and client stakeholders
Additional Responsibilities (Manager)
- Lead platform workstreams and technical delivery
- Act as a senior technical authority on GCP platform decisions
- Coach and develop junior engineers
- Engage with stakeholders to shape platform strategy and roadmap
- Contribute to bid, proposal, and solution design activity
What We’re Looking For
- Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Proven experience building cloud platforms or landing zones
- Terraform or equivalent IaC tooling
- Experience with networking, IAM, security controls, and monitoring
- CI/CD tooling (e.g. GitHub Actions, GitLab, Jenkins, Cloud Build)
- Strong consulting mindset and stakeholder communication skills
Nice to Have
- GCP certifications (Associate or Professional)
- Experience supporting data / AI platforms (BigQuery, Dataproc, Vertex AI, etc.)
- FinOps or cloud cost optimisation exposure
