- Acts as the cybersecurity program manager ensuring secure control of classified information on data systems assigned and managed by the 705 Combat Training Squadron.
- Acts as the Information Assurance and System Security Manager ensuring secure control of multi-level classified information for/on simulations, emulations, or weapon systems assigned to the 705 CTS/USAF DMOC.
- Performs services as Squadrons Command and Control Cyber System Security Manager.
- Serves as the senior cyber-security Information System Security Manager for management, contractors, and functional users.
- Serves as the organizational Information Assurance Manager responsible for ensuring squadron custom developed software is cyber-secure and in compliance with warfighter training solutions (ex. Joint Terminal Air Controller - Tactical Air Control Party / Operational Simulation Suite (JTAC/T-OSS) and Air Support Operations Center Operational Simulation Suite (AOSS).

- Positions which perform information security as an inherent, primary purpose of their position: Information Assurance Certification is a condition of employment. This position includes information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement
- The incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA certification within 6 months of assignment. A waiver of this 6-month requirement may be granted. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from this position.
- May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours and/or Shift work may be required which may include overtime and/or irregular hours.
- Position is designated special-sensitive and requires eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), other intelligence related Special Sensitive information,
- or involvement in Top Secret Special Access Programs (SAP) to fully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. A nondisclosure agreement must be signed.
- This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program.
- Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft/vehicle to conferences, meetings, or functions away from the duty office/location. Travel may include overnight stays.

- Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.

Requirements
In order to qualify, you must meet the requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Information Technology (IT) Management Series 2210 (Alternative A)
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the following four competencies: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, Problem Solving AND have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level (GS-09) or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience includes: Developing IT security specifications and standards at the LAN level to ensure compliance with established regulations while planning and coordinating the delivery of installation-wide IT security awareness training for all personnel; evaluating IT security requirements for certification and accreditation, including network protocols and system testing, to monitor compliance, provide guidance on policy implementation, and recommend specific countermeasures based on accreditation reviews; and utilizing a wide range of IT and communication security techniques, procedures, and methods to address technical requirements and ensure the protection of information systems.
OR EDUCATION: successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management OR a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in -grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
- Knowledge of systems integration methods, performance tuning methods, test and evaluation procedures / methods, IT security principles and methods, and project management principles sufficient to plan and coordinate the installation of new products or equipment.
- Knowledge of security, personnel management, Military Equal Opportunity (MEO) and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization.
- Skill in communicating effectively with others, both orally and in writing, in working out solutions to problems or questions related to the work, writing clear and concise IT products, and delivering written and/or verbal presentations to senior level audiences for decision-making purposes.
- Knowledge of the latest advancements in cyber-security to initiate corrective or preventative action to ensure optimum operational performance. Knowledge of operating systems associated devices, and the interoperability of systems sufficient to install, upgrade, troubleshoot, test, and maintain those systems; to optimize the functionality and performance of systems; and to ensure the availability, integrity, efficiency, and reliability of servers.
- Ability to apply methods and practices for troubleshooting, recovering, adjusting, modifying, and improving systems to solve complex problems, provide support that minimizes interruptions in service to customers, and maintain liaison with industry and other activities to provide awareness of state-of-the-art technology.
- Knowledge of new or revised policies, practices, and management guidelines to provide advisory services, consultation, and technical assistance.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
