Job description

CGI Federal seeks a technically skilled Information Security Analyst to ensure comprehensive compliance with NIST SP 800 53 controls across cloud based and on premises systems. This role requires hands on expertise in understanding, implementing, and validating technical security controls, as well as the ability to document security procedures and evaluate system changes for security impacts. The analyst will analyze vulnerability assessment findings, drive remediation activities, review audit logs, and support incident management, collaborating closely with system owners and engineering teams.

This position is located in our Lafayette, LA, Durham, NC, or Knoxville, TN office; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

NIST Compliance & Security Control Implementation

o Lead efforts to ensure systems achieve and maintain compliance with NIST SP 800 53 controls, translating control requirements into actionable technical solutions.

o Advise system owners and engineering teams on the technical implementation and optimization of security controls, addressing gaps and ensuring effectiveness.

o Evaluate proposed system changes for security impacts, conducting Security Impact Analyses and recommending appropriate technical mitigations.

o Develop, validate, and maintain security documentation, including System Security Plans, Privacy Impact Assessments, Contingency Plans, Incident Response Plans, Configuration Management Plans, and information exchange documentation.

o Document system security procedures and ensure they are up to date and accessible to relevant stakeholders.

Vulnerability Management

o Analyze vulnerability assessment findings from internal and external sources.

o Drive remediation activities by collaborating with technical teams, tracking progress, and verifying the effectiveness of implemented solutions.

o Manage Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&M) for identified vulnerabilities and assessment findings.

Audit Log Review & Monitoring

o Review and analyze audit logs using tools such as Splunk and Azure Sentinel to detect anomalies, investigate incidents, and support compliance reporting.

o Develop and refine log review processes, ensuring timely identification and escalation of security events.

Incident Management

o Support security incident response activities, including investigation, containment, eradication, and recovery.

o Create and deliver incident response training sessions and test exercises.

o Document and report on incidents, lessons learned, and improvement opportunities.

Continuous Improvement & Collaboration

o Provide technical recommendations for system improvements and security optimization.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a closely related technical discipline.

. Minimum 3 years demonstrated hands on experience understanding, implementing, and troubleshooting technical security controls (e.g., firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, encryption, access management) in enterprise environments.

. In depth technical understanding of NIST SP 800 53 controls, including practical experience mapping, deploying, and validating controls in real world systems.

. Experience analyzing vulnerability assessment findings using Tenable Nessus, Microsoft Defender, or similar tools and driving remediation activities.

. Proficiency in audit log review and analysis using Splunk, Azure Sentinel, or similar SIEM tools.

. Strong analytical, written, and oral communication skills and demonstrating a very high level of attention to detail.

. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

. U.S. citizenship

Desired qualifications/non essential skills required:

. Relevant security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, Security+, etc.).

. Experience with security automation tools, scripting (Python, PowerShell), and cloud security platforms (AWS, Azure).

. Knowledge of incident response frameworks and best practices.

. Familiarity with GRC tools, especially Xacta., * Incident Management

CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $63,700.00 $139,300.00.
