- Production experience within traditional financial markets
- Background in a proprietary trading firm, market maker, hedge fund, investment bank, or comparable electronic-trading environment
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills
- Ability to operate independently in technically demanding environments
Particularly valuable experience
- Direct market-data engineering experience
- Feed-handler or ticker-plant development
- Electronic or automated trading systems
- Exchange connectivity
- FIX or ITCH protocols
- Order-book infrastructure
- Smart order routing
- Tick-to-trade optimization
- Lock-free programming
- Kernel-bypass networking
- Solarflare / Onload

- NUMA-aware architecture
- Cache-aware system design
- High-availability and failover systems
- Idempotency and ACID guarantees
Strongly preferred background
- Proprietary trading
- Market making
- High-frequency trading
- Systematic hedge funds
- Investment-bank electronic trading
- Production market-data infrastructure
- Performance-critical financial systems
Benefits & conditions
This role may not be the right fit if you
- Do not have genuine production low-latency C++ experience
- Have primarily academic or research-based C++ experience without production systems ownership
- Have no professional exposure to trading or financial-market infrastructure
- Have low-latency experience primarily within cryptocurrency trading environments rather than traditional financial markets
- Prefer management responsibilities over hands-on engineering
- Are not comfortable joining through an initial 12-month contract
- Are currently based outside the United Kingdom, Netherlands, or France
- Require visa sponsorship to work from your country of residence
What you’ll get
- Greenfield engineering ownership
- Exposure to highly sophisticated financial systems
- Challenging modern C++ development
- Complex low-latency and distributed-systems problems
- High-throughput financial market-data workloads
- End-to-end ownership from architecture to production
- Fully remote work across the UK, Netherlands, and France
- Potential transition into a permanent position after the initial contract
- Opportunity to work on technically demanding systems where engineering performance directly matters
