As a Software Development Team Leader, you will guide and support a talented team of developers, driving innovation and delivering impactful software solutions that shape the future of the Business.

The Platform Engineering team delivers enterprise and infrastructure solutions that are both scalable and secure to enhance developer productivity and ensure system reliability. This enables our product teams to deliver features swiftly, safely, and consistently through robust internal platforms, innovative tools, and streamlined processes, including delivery of software as a service (SaaS).

You will be passionate about the potential of SaaS solutions, technology and eager to contribute to a dynamic team focused on optimisation development workflows and enhancing overall system performance.

Leading a diverse team of Software Developers, you will focus on people, processes, and governance to measure quality and delivery, while driving continuous improvement. This role provides an exciting opportunity to shape the future of our developer ecosystem within a fast-paced and challenging environment.

Our tech stack includes React, Golang, Python and SQL, and you will maintain a solid technical understanding of our systems, remaining close to the solutions being developed.

This role is eligible for inclusion in the Company’s hybrid working from home policy.

Qualifications

  • Passion for software development and creating efficient processes and best practice.
  • Self-motivation with a strong drive to succeed.
  • Capable of handling large workloads with rapid context switching.
  • Strong appreciation of knowledge sharing and mentoring.
  • Knowledge in at least one of the backend languages, or all the following areas, .Net, MS SQL, Golang and GCP.
  • Knowledge of version control and code repositories.
  • Awareness of Microservices and distributed system architectures.
  • Expertise in managing multiple delivery streams simultaneously.
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or in a related field, or relevant professional experience.

Main Responsibilities

  • Understanding Business and technical requirements to ensure timely provision of agreed deliverables throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Maintaining a solid understanding of the technical structure, domain, and architecture of the systems.
  • Scheduling and planning development resource according to the Business needs.
  • Tracking and reporting of progress.
  • Mitigating risk and resolving blockers throughout the work.
  • Collaborating with other teams within the Business as required.
  • Analysing bugs raised and communicating with other teams involved to resolve them, enforcing governance of best practice throughout.
  • Acting as a point of escalation for the team both in and out of office hours.
  • Ensuring effective allocation of work and supporting the team’s personal development.
  • Chairing team meetings, 1-2-1 sessions and feeding into team appraisals.
