Software Engineer - Generalist, Cross Platform Development

Location: Glasgow, Scotland or United States (Remote or Hybrid) Employment Type: Full-Time

We are seeking a Software Engineer with experience building commercial C++ applications across multiple platforms. The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex technical challenges and is comfortable working across Windows, macOS, and Linux environments.

You will collaborate with a highly experienced engineering team to design, develop, and deliver reliable software products used by customers around the world.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain cross-platform software applications and libraries.
  • Collaborate with product management and engineering teams to deliver high-quality releases.
  • Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and engineering quality initiatives.
  • Investigate and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Contribute to build systems, testing, and automation efforts.
  • Support software across Windows, macOS, and Linux platforms.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Strong C/C++ development skills and modern software engineering practices.
  • Experience building and shipping commercial software products.
  • Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work proactively and independently in a collaborative environment.

Preferred / Bonus Experience

  • Cross-platform development experience on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
  • Experience with Qt or JUCE.
  • Experience with security-focused software, including:
  • Encryption
  • Secure communications
  • Code protection
  • Licensing or anti-tamper technologies
  • Familiarity with CMake, Git, Python, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience working with distributed teams.
