About the Opportunity

Sanderson is collaborating with a leading UK-based organisation seeking skilled Cloud Platform Developers to support Secure Government projects in National Security. In this role, you’ll work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to design and develop high-availability, fully automated, cloud-native solutions using AWS cloud technologies. This is an opportunity to work on mission-critical projects, modernising legacy platforms, driving automation, and delivering secure, scalable infrastructure for some of the UK’s most sensitive and high-profile environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with project teams to understand business needs, technical context, and strategic direction
  • Advise customers on emerging tools, technologies, and methodologies to solve complex problems
  • Design and implement automated, scalable solutions using cloud and open-source technologies
  • Ensure all solutions meet strict security and compliance requirements
  • Support continuous improvement through innovation and automation best practices
  • Hands-on experience with AWS and/or Azure platforms
  • Strong background in Linux systems engineering/administration
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD practices (e.g., Terraform, Jenkins, GitLab CI)
  • Proficiency with automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef
  • Strong communication skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, Agile environment
  • A self-starter with strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail
  • Programming languages: Python, React, Go
  • Web services: NGINX, Apache, JBoss
  • Source control: Git, Bitbucket, Subversion
  • Security identity and access management tools (e.g., SSL/TLS, OIDC, Keycloak, Red Hat SSO)

Security Clearance Requirements

Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be eligible for national security clearance. To meet this requirement, applicants must:

  • Be sole British citizens (dual nationality is not permitted)
  • Have not spent more than 30 consecutive days outside the UK in the past 10 years
  • Have no criminal record
  • Have no significant financial irregularities (e.g., bankruptcy, outstanding debt issues)
