Job description

About Us

DSL-Datastor Group is a leading provider of advanced automation and control solutions, trusted by nearly 200 manufacturing sites worldwide, ~70% of which are in the UK & Ireland, ~20% of which are in North America, and ~10% of which are spread across the rest of the world. While we are a long-established partner to the animal feed industry, our software is increasingly powering other sectors too, including paint, coatings, and industrial fluids. A critical part of the value we deliver is ensuring our software integrates seamlessly with customer ERP and reporting systems. This work, led by our specialist Software Integration Engineers, combines support for legacy products with a forward-looking focus on modern, API-driven and model-based integration solutions.

The Role

We are seeking a Software Integrations Engineer to join our high-performance team. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated developer to take on complex technical challenges while positioning yourself for long-term professional growth. You will work closely with an experienced mentor. This mentorship, together with exposure to key projects, will give you the scope to take on increasing responsibility for integrations, databases, and system interfaces within the company. In this role, you will design, develop, and deploy integration solutions that connect our automation platforms with customer ERP and business systems. You will play a central part in modernising our integrations, particularly through the development of API-driven solutions, while also providing support for legacy systems where needed. Collaborating with engineers across our two UK offices in Nottingham and Congleton and working directly with customers, you will tackle technical challenges that bridge software engineering with real-world manufacturing processes, while contributing to a team that embraces innovation, including the use of AI tools in development workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop robust integrations using C, C# .NET, APIs, SQL, and MVC frameworks within Visual Studio.
  • Maintain and enhance Windows-based desktop applications (WinForms, WPF, and VB.NET legacy systems).
  • Collaborate with customers and internal teams to scope, design, and deliver integration projects.
  • Build and maintain scalable data solutions leveraging SQL, XML, and JSON.
  • Debug, optimise, and performance-tune applications.
  • Support on-site commissioning, including occasional travel across the UK and overseas.
  • Continuously learn and apply best practices in systems integration and automation software.

Required Skills

  • C and C# .NET proficiency
  • Strong SQL skills (queries, stored procedures, optimisation)
  • Knowledge of XML and JSON data structures
  • Hands-on use of Visual Studio
  • Strong communication skills and a professional client-facing manner
  • PowerShell or other scripting languages
  • Microsoft networking and server knowledge

Candidate Profile

We are seeking a self-motivated developer who thrives on solving integration challenges and working directly with customers. You should be highly adaptable, able to manage multiple priorities, and eager to learn about automation software from a control engineering perspective. Strong communication skills-whether face-to-face, over video calls, or via email-are essential, as is a willingness to take ownership of projects in a collaborative setting.

You must also:

  • Have approx. 5+ years’ of experience
  • Be available for on-site commissioning work (mainly UK, occasional overseas)
  • Be willing to work from the office five days per week
  • Hold a full UK driving license
  • Annual salary from £40,000
  • Overtime paid at normal hourly rate for on-site commissioning
  • Attractive annual bonus opportunity
  • 22 days annual leave, increasing by one day per year of service (up to 25 days)
  • Flexible salary sacrifice schemes (bikes, cars)
  • Opportunity to work in a high-performance, supportive team driving next-generation integration solutions
