Job description

About Evolito

Evolito’s mission is to accelerate the adoption of electric propulsion in aerospace applications in support of a net-zero world. We help to revolutionise personal mobility and transform our towns and cities with clean, noise-free air transportation.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Configuration Engineer to ensure the accurate and compliant management of all aspects related to system configurations, including overseeing documentation, maintaining alignment with industry regulations and standards, and facilitating effective control of changes and updates. Reporting to our Configuration Manager, you will guarantee the quality, safety, and regulatory compliance of electric propulsion systems throughout their entire lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the configuration lifecycle around the creation, revision, and maintenance of design documentation, including bills of materials (BOMs), engineering drawings, specifications, and technical manuals, protecting configuration data while ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations such as AS9100, ISO 10007 & EIA 649.
  • Maintain a robust change management process to evaluate and approve design changes, considering the impact on safety, performance, and regulatory compliance, and ensuring design changes are documented accurately within the configuration management system.
  • Plan and conduct regular configuration audits to verify compliance with design requirements, safety standards, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Support and maintain the creation of specific configuration documentation required in support of customer programmes.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the configuration management process, seeking opportunities to enhance efficiency and accuracy while adhering to regulatory standards.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering with previous proven experience in a design and development environment.
  • Familiarity with aerospace industry regulations and standards, including but not limited to AS9100, ISO 9001, FAR Part regulations, DO-178C, DO-254, ARP-4754, ARP-4761, ISO 10007, EIA 649 and others.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in managing complex configuration data and documentation with effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, vendors, and regulatory authorities.
  • Understanding of and commitment to well-defined configuration management processes and procedures, with analytical and problem-solving skills to assess the impact of configuration changes and evaluate compliance with regulations.
  • Experience with data management systems (PDM, PLM or SharePoint etc.) and ensuring data integrity and traceability.
  • Proficiency in document control and the ability to maintain accurate bills of material.
  • Commitment to quality control and compliance with industry standards, ensuring that components and assemblies meet quality requirements.
  • Proficiency in project management principles, as configuration management often involves coordinating tasks related to system changes and updates.
  • Dedication to continuous improvement in configuration management processes and a willingness to adapt to evolving industry standards.
  • Commitment to ethical behaviour and professional integrity in handling sensitive configuration data and regulatory compliance.
  • Flexible approach to work.
  • UK driving licence and ability to support visits to customer sites.
