Systems Engineer

As our new Systems Engineer (m/f/d) you will play a key part in sustaining our products throughout their entire lifecycle-from launch to end-of-life. Beyond supporting existing products, you will also take on a technical leadership role focused on the scoping, development, and implementation of custom design solutions to meet specific customer needs across a broad range of Molecular Devices’ standard product offerings.

You will collaborate with a highly skilled technical team and work closely with stakeholders including manufacturing, service, product management, application scientists, and product development. Together, you will drive improvements and enhancements to our high-precision electro-mechanical and optical systems.

This position reports to the Global FIT Manager and is a part of the Engineering Team located in Puch bei Hallein, Salzburg, Austria and will be an on-site role.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Analyze existing technologies and develop strategies to achieve desired functionality.
• Collaborate across disciplines, coordinating designs with Mechanical, Optical, Electronic, Firmware, and Software Engineering teams.
• Build, integrate, and test systems, including troubleshooting and debugging to ensure optimal performance.
• Apply hands-on problem-solving skills to identify issues, determine root causes, implement corrective actions, and sustain improvements.
• Utilize industry-standard tools and methodologies such as FMEA, structured problem-solving, Poka-Yoke, and Standard Work to meet quality, delivery, and cost objectives while driving continuous process improvement.

• Life Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Physics.
• 1 - 3 years of R&D experience in measuring and detection technologies.
• Proven ability to perform systems integration and verification against defined requirements.
• Creative problem-solver with strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electro-mechanical, optical, communication, and control systems.
• Very good English language skills, German language proficiency is a plus.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• Familiarity with Microplate Readers and Clone Screening Automation
• Experience working professionally with Operations technicians and manufacturing engineers
