Job description
We are looking for an enthusiastic Software Engineer to work at the forefront of our cloud modernisation, within our Credit & Verification Services. This team comprises nearly 100 engineering teams who deliver over 200 products achieving significant revenue per annum for our UK Business.
Our Tech:
Our architecture is built on Kubernetes (EKS), enabling us to run scalable, resilient microservices in the cloud. On top of this, we leverage a wide range of AWS services (Lambda, Kinesis, Dynamo and RDS to name just a few), to enhance performance, observability, and integration across our platform placing a strong emphasis on quality and automation.
Reporting into our Engineering Director, you will be part of a high-performance engineering team that delivers the product backlog of Ascend Cloud Foundation Platform. You will work with other Software Engineers to both maintain existing systems and build our cloud-native microservices and web applications using the latest technologies and architectural patterns.
Main Responsibilities:
- Work as a software developer in an agile team to provide high-quality software solutions within agreed timelines, ensuring agreement on our requirements and Agile principles.
- Translate our requirements to clean, scalable code ensuring minimal defects.
- Follow DevSecOps practices into the development lifecycle to ensure code quality and security.
- Provide concise documentation for code, processes, and system architecture to facilitate knowledge sharing and maintainability.
Requirements
- Experience with .NET 6+ or .NET Core or .NET Framework building scalable, maintainable and performant REST/SOAP/RPC APIs
- Proficiency in C#.
- Experience building secure, high-volume transaction web-based software systems, in regulated environments
- Proficient in writing high-quality unit and integration tests using xUnit or nUnit, with hands-on experience in Test-Driven Development and Behaviour-Driven Development
- Experience using mocking frameworks to ensure test reliability.
- Familiarity with clean architecture, SOLID principles, and design patterns.
- Experience with any of NOSQL or SQL Databases.
- Knowledge of Containers, Docker.
- Working knowledge of any source control (e.g. Bitbucket, Github, Gitlab)
- Fundamental knowledge of CI & CD.
Useful skills:
- Working knowledge of using GEN AI tools for coding
- Knowledge with Python/Scala or big data frameworks (e.g. spark)
- Experience working with Domain-driven Design, Event-driven Architecture.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation or CDK.
