Job description
Node4 have an exciting opportunity within our Security Operations Center (SOC) for an individual looking to progress their career in cybersecurity. Our growing Security Team comprises Analysts, Penetration Testers and Engineers.
As a Security Team we are responsible for securing both Node4 and our customers against attacks, compromises and breaches. Internally we work as part of the corporate services department, collaborating with other teams such as network specialists and infrastructure engineers to mature and maintain our internal security posture.
Externally we work closely with our account-managers and pre-sales team to deliver managed security services to customers and provide a consistently high-quality standard of service.
We are looking for a passionate, driven individual who is keen to learn more about Cyber Security, enthusiastic about getting hands-on with new technologies and aspires to continually improve their own skills and knowledge. This role will help develop your attention to detail and analytical skills, whilst giving you exposure to various areas of cyber-security.
Within the job, there will be the opportunity for continuous professional development as well as training and qualifications. The SOC is based in Derby, Node4 will require the applicant to attend this office.
Responsibilities
- Triage incoming alerts and alarms from different security platforms and investigate/escalate them as appropriate.
- Proactively suggest improvements for existing EDR/SIEM alarms and create new ones based on threat intelligence and threat models.
- Track the progress of ongoing security incidents and provide handovers with other shifts to ensure consistent service to clients.
- Creating/Maintaining SOC documentation as appropriate
Requirements
- At least 1 years’ experience working in an IT role
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong understanding of IT & networking fundamentals (eg TCP, DNS, TLS).
- Able to work effectively in a team as well as confident working independently and taking accountability for tasks/projects.
- Eagerness to learn and develop new SOC related skills
DESIRABLE
- Experience in a SOC analyst role (or equivalent)
- Experience using SIEM (ideally Microsoft Sentinel)
- Experience using EDR (ideally Microsoft Defender and Sentinel One)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Robust time/project management skills to prioritise and organise multiple ongoing tasks.
- Able to work independently and take ownership of incidents.
- Able to learn and adapt to new skills and technologies quickly.
- Bringing an analytical mindset to identify anomalies and patterns in data.
- Understanding of Windows and Linux server and endpoint operating systems
- Ability to research new concepts and present them internally to the team
- A cybersecurity related qualification, particularly Microsoft/Azure eg SC-200, Blue Team Level 1, CompTIA Security+
- Experience working in an IT department/organization in a role that includes supporting users, troubleshooting issues, following ITSM processes.
