Job description

DecisionPoint seeks a Senior Integration Developer to lead the design, implementation, and sustainment of secure data and application integrations supporting a large-scale Department of Defense (DoD) modernization effort. The Integration Developer will engineer RESTful APIs, ETL pipelines, and data validation routines that enable reliable and secure interoperability between enterprise systems, analytics environments, and external mission partners.

The position is responsible for optimizing data workflows, maintaining integration health, and ensuring information exchange remains compliant with DoD cybersecurity and data governance requirements across multiple impact levels (IL2-IL5)., The Integration Developer, Senior will:

  • Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs and data integration services connecting cloud-hosted applications, case management systems, and third-party solutions.

  • Implement and manage ETL pipelines for structured and unstructured data sources, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency.

  • Develop data transformation, mapping, and reconciliation logic using scripting languages and integration frameworks.

  • Ensure interoperability through API gateway management, secure token handling, and encryption protocols (TLS, AES).

  • Perform data validation and quality assurance testing on integration transactions to ensure integrity across environments.

  • Collaborate with database administrators to design optimized schemas, stored procedures, and indexing strategies that enhance data access and performance.

  • Implement and monitor event-driven integrations using message queues or streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka, SNS/SQS).

  • Participate in Agile sprint planning, backlog refinement, and technical reviews to ensure integration tasks align with program priorities.

  • Support sustainment and troubleshooting for data synchronization, latency, and connectivity issues across IL2-IL5 cloud tiers.

  • Work closely with cybersecurity teams to ensure compliance with DoD RMF, STIG, and Zero Trust security principles.

  • Develop and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs), API specifications, and integration testing documentation.

  • Support post-deployment validation (PDV) and performance monitoring of integration services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience developing and maintaining data integrations or middleware solutions.

  • Proven track record in API development, data migration, and system interoperability in secure, cloud-hosted environments.

  • Experience supporting large-scale federal or defense programs using Agile or DevSecOps methodologies.

  • Technical Knowledge:

  • Expertise in Python, Java, or C# for backend development.

  • Proficiency with API frameworks (FastAPI, Spring Boot, .NET Core) and data integration tools (AWS Glue, Talend, MuleSoft, or Apache NiFi).

  • Experience developing and securing RESTful APIs, web services, and data pipelines.

  • Strong understanding of relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB).

  • Familiarity with AWS GovCloud environments and related services (API Gateway, Lambda, S3, RDS).

  • Experience with CI/CD automation (Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CodePipeline).

  • Knowledge of data security, encryption, and identity management (OAuth 2.0, SAML).

  • Understanding of performance tuning, load balancing, and API monitoring.

Certifications (Preferred):

  • AWS Certified Developer - Associate or Solutions Architect.

  • CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent DoD 8570 certification.

  • Certified Scrum Developer (CSD) or equivalent Agile certification.

Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for integration challenges.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork in Agile environments.

  • Detail-oriented with a focus on scalability, performance, and maintainability.

  • Ability to balance technical design and mission-driven outcomes.

  • Commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
