Job description

We are seeking a Senior eDiscovery Data Migration Engineer to support complex legal data migration initiatives between enterprise eDiscovery platforms in Woodlawn, MD. This role requires hands-on experience with eDiscovery data migration, ETL workflows, legal technology platforms, metadata handling, and defensible data transfer processes.

The successful candidate will support end-to-end migration activities involving active and archived matters, custodial collections, productions, transcripts, review work product, metadata, and workspace configurations. The role requires close collaboration with legal, IT, security, and operations stakeholders to deliver secure, auditable, accurate, and efficient data migration solutions, * Execute end-to-end platform-to-platform eDiscovery data migrations across commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions.

  • Perform migrations involving Actera eDP (Clearwell) and Casepoint SaaS environments.
  • Migrate active and archived matters, custodial collections, productions, transcripts, and review work product.
  • Preserve critical eDiscovery information, including tags, redactions, search histories, and workspace configurations throughout the migration process.
  • Maintain strict data integrity through digital hashing and industry-standard chain-of-custody validation methods.
  • Map, transform, and normalize metadata to meet target platform requirements.
  • Work with specialized load-file formats, including .DAT, .OPT, and Concordance formats.
  • Perform QA/UAT activities, including sampling, reconciliation checks, and validation audits to ensure complete and accurate migrations.
  • Develop phased migration plans designed to minimize disruption to ongoing litigation workflows and user access.
  • Coordinate with legal, IT, security, and operations stakeholders throughout migration initiatives.
  • Ensure migration activities support legal hold, privacy, and data-retention requirements.
  • Document migration activities and maintain auditable records supporting defensible data transfers.
  • Identify migration issues and independently research and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Support secure and efficient data movement across enterprise eDiscovery environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’’s degree plus 5-7+ years of IT experience.
  • 3-7+ years of hands-on experience in eDiscovery data migration, ETL workflows, or legal technology engineering.
  • Strong subject-matter expertise with Actera eDP (Clearwell) and Casepoint eDiscovery environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of EDRM concepts, metadata handling, relational databases, and structured load files.
  • Experience performing defensible and auditable data migrations.
  • Strong understanding of chain-of-custody requirements and metadata preservation.
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools such as Python, PowerShell, and SQL.
  • Understanding of legal holds, data-retention policies, and data privacy requirements.
  • Experience performing data validation, reconciliation, QA, and UAT activities.
  • Ability to work effectively with legal, IT, security, and operations stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with Concordance load files.
  • Experience supporting large-scale litigation matters or government investigations.
  • Familiarity with secure data-transfer protocols.
  • Knowledge of cloud SaaS migration best practices.
  • Experience with complex enterprise eDiscovery migration initiatives.
  • Experience working with active and archival legal matters and associated review work product.
