Job description
At Snowflake, we are powering the era of the agentic enterprise. To usher in this new era, we seek AI-native thinkers across every function who are energized by the opportunity to reinvent how they work. You don’t just use tools; you possess an innate curiosity, treating AI as a high-trust collaborator that is core to how you solve problems and accelerate your impact. We look for low-ego individuals who thrive in dynamic and fast-moving environments and move with an experimental mindset - who rapidly test emerging capabilities to discover simpler, more powerful ways to deliver results. At Snowflake, your role isn’t just to execute a function, but to help redefine the future of how work gets done.
Observe by Snowflake is an AI-powered observability platform built on the Snowflake AI Data Cloud and engineered for scale. We ingest and store logs, metrics, traces, and events on an open, scalable data lakehouse, using open formats like Apache Iceberg, at dramatically lower cost. A dynamic Context Graph and AI SRE provide rich context and automated workflows so teams can move from detection to root cause of production issue and resolution 10x faster.
Leading engineering teams at companies like Capital One, Topgolf, and Dialpad rely on Observe to troubleshoot hundreds of terabytes of telemetry daily while maintaining reliability at enterprise scale. As part of Snowflake, Observe combines startup-style ownership and velocity with the global reach, operational excellence, and ecosystem of one of the world’s leading data platforms.
This is a rare opportunity to define the future of AI-native observability. We are hiring a Staff Frontend Software Engineer on the AI Products team, the team responsible for the most transformative, customer-facing AI capabilities at Observe. You won’t just ship features here; you’ll set the technical direction for how AI agents, real-time integrations, and developer tooling come together to fundamentally change how engineers operate production systems. If you want to work at the frontier of agentic AI, in a product that ships to real customers solving real problems every day, this is the role.
AS A STAFF FRONTEND SOFTWARE ENGINEER AT OBSERVE BY SNOWFLAKE, YOU WILL:
- Set technical direction for the AI Products frontend architecture, making foundational decisions about component systems, state management, and rendering strategies that scale across a rapidly growing product surface
- Opportunity to work on the AI SRE product, Observe’s flagship tool that helps engineering teams resolve production issues 10x faster through AI-powered signal correlation, driving its frontend architecture from concept through production
- Design and build agentic AI interfaces that surface complex multi-step reasoning, tool-use results, and real-time streaming responses in ways that feel immediate, trustworthy, and actionable to users
- Contribute to the design and development of the Observe Slack integration, creating real-time conversational surfaces that allow users to interact with the AI SRE agent directly inside their existing workflows, and own the technical strategy for future platform integrations
- Contribute to the CLI tooling and evaluation pipelines, defining the developer experience for interacting with Observe’s agentic systems and ensuring model and system quality through rigorous evals
- Expand Observe’s Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations, and extension architecture that grows the reach and capability of our agentic AI systems
- Mentor and elevate engineers across the team through code review, architecture guidance, design documents, and pair programming, raising the technical bar for the entire AI Products group
- Collaborate deeply with product, and design to shape the product roadmap, influence what gets built, and ensure every feature is as thoughtful in user experience as it is technically sound
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 6 years focused on frontend engineering shipping production products at scale
- Expert-level TypeScript proficiency, this is non-negotiable for the role; you write idiomatic, type-safe code and have opinions about how to structure large TypeScript codebases
- Deep experience building complex, interactive web applications, you’ve owned entire product surfaces, not just individual components, and made architectural decisions that stood up over time
- Production experience with agentic AI systems and tool-use patterns, including hands-on work with SDKs like the Vercel AI SDK, Anthropic Agent SDK, LangGraph, or equivalent, you understand how to build UIs for non-deterministic, streaming, multi-step agent workflows
- Strong server-side Node.js experience (Express, Hono, Fastify, or similar), you’re comfortable building APIs, middleware, and backend services, not just consuming them
- Experience implementing or consuming MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers, you understand the protocol and can design extensible tool interfaces for LLM-powered systems
- Demonstrated technical leadership, you’ve driven architecture decisions, authored RFCs or design docs, and influenced technical direction beyond your immediate team
- A product-obsessed mindset, you think in terms of user outcomes, not just technical correctness, and you push back on designs that don’t serve the user
- BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
BONUS POINTS FOR THE FOLLOWING:
- Hands-on experience building evaluation (evals) pipelines for LLM-powered features in production, you’ve measured and improved model output quality at scale
- Experience with Bun as a runtime for CLI tooling or server applications
- Prior work building developer platforms, internal tools, or productivity infrastructure that meaningfully changed how an engineering team operates
- Open-source contributions to AI tooling, observability projects, or developer experience tools
- Familiarity with the observability ecosystem (OpenTelemetry, logs/metrics/traces, APM) or direct experience with Observe’s platform
Benefits & conditions
The following represents the expected range of compensation for this role:
- The estimated base salary range for this role is $236,000 - $339,200.

About the company
This isn’t your typical observability product. The AI Products team is building something genuinely new, an AI-native experience layer that fundamentally changes how engineers interact with production systems. You’ll work with cutting-edge agentic AI, ship to customers who rely on the product daily at massive scale, and have the creative freedom to define how these products work from the ground up.
You’ll get startup-level autonomy (small team, direct customer impact, no bureaucracy between you and shipping) paired with Snowflake-level resources (infrastructure, data platform, enterprise distribution). The technical problems are hard, the pace is fast, and the team is small enough that your work will be felt immediately by both customers and teammates.
Snowflake is growing fast, and we’re scaling our team to help enable and accelerate our growth. We are looking for people who share our values, challenge ordinary thinking, and push the pace of innovation while building a future for themselves and Snowflake.
