Job description

Title: Python Developer, FastAPI, Beanie, MongoDB, Alpharetta GA, 12 Months cont Python Developer Data Protection Services The mission of the Data Protection (DP) group is to implement the Firm’s Data Cybersecurity Strategy by architecting, engineering, deploying, and operating technical data security controls and capabilities for the Enterprise. This is achieved by continued focus on architectural rigor, automation, Agile delivery, and adoption of Data Protection Services’ control implementations by our users and partners. The Data Protection Services (DPS) fleet design, engineer and operate solutions that secure data at rest and in transit, escalating inappropriate usage of the Firm’s data to incident responders. This Python Developer position is with the Data Protection Dev Squad. We work on building APIs that leverage vendor SaaS solutions and used for data protection. This includes building microservices and applications needed by other teams for functions such as scanning automation, masking, policy controls, scheduling and authentication management. The Data Protection Dev squad is a small unit within the Data Protection group consisting of Developers and DevOps Engineers whose role it is to provide expert development, integration, and strategy capabilities to enable data protection of client and employee data anywhere at Morgan Stanley while feeding downstream systems for data security, compliance, privacy as well as threat monitoring and analytics. We have a strong focus on data control and more specifically how this will work in cloud environments. The team operates in a flat, agile structure and fosters a culture of collaboration and autonomy. The team is based between Alpharetta, Bengaluru, and Montreal. What will you be doing?

  • You will onboard new and maintain existing API microservices to support business needs and integrate with the tech ecosystem focused on sensitive data detection across all structured and unstructured data to mitigate firm risk, with Just-in-time access and minimal system owner involvement, while ensuring that scan results are available to downstream systems.
  • You will work with the Data Protection Dev squad supporting Development & Operational tasks involved in data security services, ranging from service delivery, task automation, DevOps tasks and supporting an on-call rota
  • You will support the continuous improvement of our services through the development of automation scripting and effective observability solutions
  • Across the Data Protection Dev squad and stakeholder groups, you will participate in design and code reviews
  • You will participate in the agile structure and norms of the team
  • You will deliver knowledge sharing across our global Data Protection squads & chapters, providing documentation, presentations, and internal postings

Requirements

Must have: Development: Python, FastAPI, Beanie DevOps: Git, Jenkins, Test Automation OS: Linux (in-depth), Windows Agile: Jira Database: MongoDB Networking: Troubleshooting and debugging Security Practices: Knowledge of critical cyber security controls AI Software Development Lifecycle (AI SDLC): Working knowledge of the secure and governed use of artificial intelligence across requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement, including appropriate human oversight.   • Experience working within Agile teams
  • Experience with building and scaling APIs in a microservice environment
  • Knowledge of IT Service Management (ITIL)
  • Ability to quickly learn and understand proprietary technologies in a complex, regulated environment
  • Self-starter with proven & demonstratable experience in technical & application support of enterprise systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills coupled with a collaborative approach
  • An automation/orchestration mind-set, enabling the product squads to spend more time coding and less time on manual processes
