Job description
We are seeking a Biostatistician or Data Scientist to support a NIH-funded healthcare research program focused on translating complex statistical analyses into clinically meaningful insights. This role will work closely with clinicians and other researchers to link and analyze large real-world healthcare and EMS data, with an emphasis on causal inference and observational research., * Assists in the design, development and maintenance of data collection instruments, databases and procedure manuals. Designs, implements, and performs data management and quality control procedures as necessary for routine and special projects.
- Writes computer programs to combine data from separate computer files to allow comparison of data from different sources. Support the creation applications in support of research projects.
- Collaborates with program staff on the design and analysis of biostatistics aspects of research protocols. Participates in the design of questionnaires and interview forms.
- Analyzes data beginning with univariate and multivariate analyses such as logistic regression and factor analysis for research studies. Supports the interpretation and assist in the creation of study results in collaboration with faculty members, epidemiologists, biostatisticians and other team members.
- Provides tabular and graphic summaries of analyses in a form suitable for inclusion in manuscripts for publication in peer reviewed scientific journals as well as for presentation at scientific meetings
Requirements
- an educational background in Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Data Science, or a closely related field
- a strong foundation in statistical inference, including hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, and model interpretation
- hands-on experience working with real healthcare or clinical datasets (e.g., EHR, large national datasets)
- experience designing and analyzing observational studies, including handling confounding, bias, and missing data

a strong understanding of causal inference methods and the ability to apply them, such as: o Target trial emulation o Propensity score methods (matching, weighting, adjustment) o Instrumental variable analyses o Mendelian randomization o Regression based approaches for observational data
- the ability to manage the full analytical workflow: linkage cleaning analysis interpretation reporting and communication of methods (including selection and justification), and results

programming experience in R or SAS and/or Python or SQL, Master’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Statistics, Biostatistics or related field required.

3-5 years related work experience required.

Demonstrated ability to work with software programs including SAS, Access, Powerpoint, Epi Info and Excel.

Ability to conduct and interpret multivariable regression analysis.

Documented ability to manipulate complex, large databases including Medicare and other insurance claims data.
- Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access and other web-based applications. May produce complex documents, perform analysis and maintain databases.

The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
