Job description
As a PhD student in our international ML research group you conduct research in ML guided by a postdoc and two professors, have the opportunity to cooperate with companies, small and large, as well as with academic partners on real-word ML problems, and are encouraged to assist in teaching ML courses in our renowned International Master’s Program in Data Analytics to students from all over the world. The working language of our group is English. You will work in a beautiful town with UNESCO World Heritage Sites, located in the very center of Germany, just 30 km from Hanover and 1.5 hours. by high-speed train to Berlin
Requirements
We are looking for a gifted student who loves models, algorithms, and data, can hardly stop discussing them with others, likes to express their ideas in formulas and programs, and now wants to get to the bottom of a complex ML problem over the next three years. You should have a recent Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or a closely related area. A Master’s thesis on an ML topic and ML-related courses in your Master’s program will be an asset. You are expected to have strong analytic and programming skills, the ability to work independently, and strong interpersonal as weil as English language skills.

the position is full-time, can be filled immediately, and is initially offered for three years. The Information Systemsand Machine Learning Lab (ISMLL) at the Institute of Computer Science of the University of Hildesheim is an international research group an machine learning, especially predictive modelling and probabilistic methods for complex data and complex decisions, with an excellent publication track record (NeurlPS, ICML, ICLR, AAAI, ACM KDD, ECML PKDD, etc.). Current research directions include time series forecasting, probabilistic machine learning, graph neural networks, recommender systems, and mathematical foundations of machine learning.
