Job description

At Ring we build with AI first. That’s not a tool choice, it’s how we work: documentation, design, code, and daily operations all run through AI to deliver software at the fastest possible pace. The Platform Ops team builds the platforms that make this way of working possible across RBKS, and we run our own operations the same way.

Our mission is operational excellence through AI. We own the platforms RBKS engineering ships through and relies on daily: the MCP platform connecting AI assistants and agents to internal tools at over 150K invocations a day, the device Emulator that 50+ service teams test against, the service knowledge platform behind the org’s operational health view, and the AI observability layer tracking the org’s AI workloads. Device onboarding runs through automation, incident tickets arrive with AI-assisted analysis, and repetitive work is where we point our automation next.

We’re looking for an SDE II who already works this way. You reach for AI first when documenting, designing, and coding, and you pair that with strong code review judgment - the ability to catch and correct what tooling or other developers get wrong. You want to own systems end to end, and you enjoy building automation that makes daily work easier for the engineers around you.

Key job responsibilities Design, build, and operate backend services and platform components used by engineering teams across RBKS

Build MCP servers and agent workflows that automate operational work and connect AI tooling to production systems

Own large components end to end: design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support

Identify repetitive tasks and processes and build automation into your day-to-day work

Prototype new technology, evaluate feasibility, and drive best practices and engineering excellence

Participate in the team’s on-call rotation and improve the systems behind recurring issues

A day in the life We are a Day 1 team - we never settle for maintenance. Every day you’ll build the tools and systems that make other Builders faster, using AI to automate what used to take entire teams. You’ll ship production code most days and see it used by real teams the same week, working across our platform services, the MCP and agent layer, and the systems that keep RBKS services healthy.

About the team The Platform Ops team owns operational excellence, developer tooling, and AI-powered automation for RBKS. We build the systems that keep services healthy and make builders productive - from service health platforms and device emulation to AI agents that automate operational toil. Our mission is simple: every builder ships faster, every service runs better, and AI does the heavy lifting on everything that can be automated.

We operate across Ring, Blink, Key, and Sidewalk - a connected ecosystem of physical and digital products serving millions of customers worldwide. We’re based in Hawthorne, CA, and we run lean: real ownership and real room to grow.
