Job description

Intercontinental Exchange seeks a developer to design, build and own shared libraries, frameworks, and production applications from requirements through non-production deployment. Projects include platform software used by development teams across the company as well as customer-facing web and desktop applications that integrate with disparate systems using APIs, inter-process communication, and backend services. The ideal candidate demonstrates architectural and systems design skill, technical writing ability, and depth in JavaScript, CSS, HTML, and modern frameworks such as React, Redux, and TypeScript, with the judgment to direct and review AI-assisted development., * Own full software development lifecycle activities, including requirements, design, development, test, and non-production deployment

  • Lead architectural and systems design of new software components
  • Own and evolve the shared UI platform, including the component library, application framework, desktop container, and related libraries
  • Provide technical leadership and last-resort support on React, Redux, and related web and desktop technologies for consuming teams
  • Design and develop production desktop applications, including a central hub and inter-process communication with messaging-based APIs across application processes
  • Build and maintain an advanced AI agent/harness application, including MCP tools, resources, and prompts
  • Direct AI-assisted development and critically review generated code, tests, and documentation
  • Author requirements, technical design documents, and architecture decision records
  • Manage builds and non-production deployments independently
  • Create and maintain software tests ensuring functionality and quality
  • Identify optimization opportunities for applications
  • Follow company software development processes and standards

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science (graduate degree preferred)
  • 5+ years of JavaScript and functional programming experience, with the depth to design, evaluate, and correct production application code
  • Experience leading architectural and systems design for large-scale web applications and multi-process desktop systems
  • Full software development lifecycle ownership spanning requirements, design, development, test, and non-production deployment
  • Technical writing skills for requirements, design decisions, and architecture decision records
  • Ability to effectively direct and review output from AI-assisted development tools
  • Advanced experience with React and Redux
  • Strong proficiency with TypeScript
  • Experience designing and maintaining libraries or frameworks used by other development teams
  • Experience with desktop containers or multi-process application architectures
  • Advanced experience with modern CSS
  • Strong proficiency with HTML5 and contemporary front-end techniques
  • Experience with test-driven development and continuous integration
  • Client-side testing tools (React-Testing-Library, Jest, Enzyme)
  • Unit/e2e/accessibility testing and debugging workflows
  • Server-side technologies such as Node.js
  • Strong understanding of browser quirks and cross-browser optimization
