Job description

  • Plan, develop, document and execute test operations to validate satellite systems for flight to meet Kuiper production build rates.
  • Bring-up, test and troubleshoot integrated satellite assemblies
  • Lead acceptance and qualification test (environmental, functional and performance) campaigns for development satellite system designs.
  • Analyze test failures to ensure defects are fully understood and provide design recommendations for the product to increase performance, reliability, and yield.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical and RF performance problems on the fly, working with an integrated cross-functional team of electrical, mechanical, software and manufacturing engineers.
  • Specify, procure and set up test cell layouts for the production floor.
  • Write technical specifications for system assembly and test from scratch.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or equivalent

  • 2+ years of test experience with embedded systems, integrated systems, or flight hardware.
  • 1+ years in a Space/Aerospace/Military/Automotive hardware testing environment
  • Experience with test automation frameworks or scripting, 2+ years of experience testing and troubleshooting integrated systems.
  • 1+ years of programming experience
  • Experience working with the Linux environment
  • Experience commissioning and troubleshooting test equipment. Demonstrated ability to scale production rate capability.
  • Experience with complex products in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
  • Experience with anomaly tracking systems or formal failure investigation processes.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, root cause analysis and problem-solving skills.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. As a FLS Test Engineer at Leo, you will be directly responsible for testing, qualifying and troubleshooting integrated satellites for the Kuiper broadband internet network. You will utilize innovative solutions and leading-edge technology to solve difficult manufacturing and engineering problems on a daily basis, at both a systems and specialized level. You will be a critical lynchpin between the engineering, operations, tooling, supply chain and quality teams, and help lead production on the assembly line as well as new production introduction. You will provide vital manufacturability input to the design engineering teams for both new and existing hardware. Finally, you will be responsible for standing up new processes, equipment, and assembly lines to support Kuiper’s rapid build ramp, making data-driven decisions at each step in the process.
