Job description
CGI is seeking for a Senior Azure Data engineer who thrives on turning messy, high-volume data into something the business can rely on and also design, develop, and support ETL processes both on premises and in the cloud.
In this client facing role you will design, build, and continuously improve the ETL processes that feed our client’s core business applications - the same data that drives patient authorization and case build decisions every day.
This is a highly visible, fast paced role. Priorities shift with business demand, so you will bring strong multitasking skills, a bias for improving what already exists, and the willingness to mentor other ETL developers as the team moves to the cloud.
This is a Full-Time, On-Site employment opportunity based in Lafayette, LA in a hybrid working model.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and support ETL processes both on premises and in the cloud, covering new data implementations and enhancements to existing feeds, often on a rapid turnaround.
- Identify and deliver improvements to existing ETL processes, driving better performance, reliability, and maintainability.
- Develop and optimize T SQL - scripting, stored procedures, triggers, and complex query development - across SQL Server and cloud database platforms.
- Build and maintain SSIS packages, data load processing, workflow management, and process automation.
- Partner with data analysts on the team to understand the business and translate requirements into successful production implementations.
- Manage secure file exchange and FTP processes, including zip/unzip and encrypt/decrypt workflows.
- Train and mentor other ETL developers, with a particular focus on cloud based solutions, and champion T SQL and SDLC best practices and standards.
- Produce and maintain clear technical documentation for workflows, processes, and data flows.
- Operate within an Agile/SCRUM delivery team, managing shifting priorities across multiple concurrent workstreams.
Requirements
- At least 8+ years of experience with Data Exchange/Load, Data Warehouse, and T SQL development (scripting, stored procedures, triggers, query development).
- Hands on experience with Databricks, ETL, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, OLAP, EDI, and BCP.
- Strong understanding of database technology, including SQL Server and cloud based SQL platforms.
- Working knowledge of best practices and standards for T SQL and the SDLC.
- Experience with development tools and applications such as GitHub, TFS, Azure DevOps, RedGate tools, and Visual Studio.
- Experience with FTP file management, including zip/unzip and encrypt/decrypt, using tools such as MoveIT, Data Tran, and SI.
- Experience with data load processing, workflow management, and process automation.
- Experience delivering within Agile methodologies / SCRUM teams.
- Familiarity with ANSI/EDI standards.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain technical documentation.
- Proven ownership and accountability, a proactive approach, and experience mentoring other developers.
