Job description

  • Design, develop, and maintain Java Spring Boot microservices that power mission-critical applications.
  • Build and support secure RESTful APIs that enable seamless integration across enterprise systems.
  • Develop highly scalable backend services utilizing AWS GovCloud, Aurora PostgreSQL, and modern cloud-native architectures.
  • Optimize database performance through efficient query design, data modeling, and tuning strategies.
  • Support data migration, integration, and transformation efforts across legacy and modernized platforms.
  • Implement secure development practices aligned with Zero Trust, FedRAMP Moderate, DoD IL4, and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Contribute to automated CI/CD DevSecOps pipelines, improving deployment speed, security, and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative technical solutions supporting critical Navy operations.
  • Help shape backend architecture recommendations and engineering best practices for future platform enhancements.
  • Support system performance, monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives., Your work directly supports the health, safety, and operational readiness of Navy and Marine Corps personnel worldwide.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience developing backend applications using:
  • Java
  • Spring Boot
  • SQL
  • Hibernate/JPA
  • Microservices Architecture
  • Experience developing and securing REST APIs
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps practices, including SAST, DAST, dependency scanning, and secrets management
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to create clear technical documentation and support engineering reviews
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship, * AWS Developer Certification or equivalent cloud certification
  • Experience supporting DoD, Navy, or federal modernization programs
  • Familiarity with AWS GovCloud, FedRAMP, and IL4 environments
  • Experience with Aurora PostgreSQL optimization and performance tuning
  • Knowledge of CUI handling requirements
  • Experience with Kubernetes, containerized solutions, and CI/CD automation

About the company

We’re seeking a talented Back End Application Developer II to support the Naval Dosimetry Center (NDC), the U.S. Navy’s center of excellence for radiation exposure monitoring and force health protection. In this role, you’ll help modernize and sustain the core systems that protect Sailors, Marines, and civilian personnel around the globe.
