The DIRECTV IT team builds experiences that efficiently offer our products to prospects, delight our customers, and create a connected omnichannel experience. Within this, the Existing Customer Lifecycle value stream builds experiences that enable customers to get the most from their DIRECTV service and empowers our front-line team members who help them with intelligent technology. Our scope includes customer-facing self-service capabilities on DIRECTV.com, our IVR (interactive voice response), and applications for our field technicians and customer care phone agents.
DIRECTV is seeking a Principal, IT Software Engineer 2, to design and develop end-to end solutions for our customer profile operational data store and staging environment, managing dependencies and cross-team impacts. This role is responsible for planning short term (sprint-to-sprint) and long-term (multiple PI) initiatives and organizing work and designs to meet the long-term target. This lead must be able to think both tactically to execute quickly and efficiently, and strategically to develop target-state solution blueprints that bring in modern technologies and delivery approaches.
Here’s what you’ll do:
- Guide development and modernization of critical customer information operational data stores.
- Lead development of data pathways between internal and external systems, especially with integration to identity and access management services.
- Govern all aspects of the application design including providing input on application architecture, modern technologies and development techniques, and patterns to create sustainable technology.
- Ensure security and compliance for the data and services stored and passed by these systems.
- Lead the development of new technologies based on best practices and a coaching mindset for more junior team members.
- Govern vendor teams to develop our desired technical vision, minimizing technical debt and ensuring productive, predictable output from our partners.
- Serve as the domain technical expert, representing system capabilities to business and technology teams alike, understanding desired business outcomes, and guiding the solution to the most effective implementation, while being comfortable communicating progress, roadblocks, and opportunities to all levels in the organization.
- Participate in cross-functional teams to define and hone technical best-practices; evangelize these and support change across teams where needed.
- Participate in defining and developing DevOPS best practices, including Production Support and deployment process, and additionally help troubleshoot critical production issues.
- A strong communicator, able to effectively synthesize key points of a topic and turn them into a persuasive conversation, presentation, or email., Operates and maintains unmanned aircraft systems in remote and austere environments. Plans missions, briefs customers, monitors weather and airspace requirements, delivers flight and payload data, analyzes mission results, and completes reports. Performs system testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, inventory control, and customer support while coordinating with subject matter experts. Requires frequent deployment, physical outdoor work, an active Secret DoW clearance, and an FAA Class 2 medical certificate. Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent experience preferred.
- 5 - 7 years required, 7+ years desired software delivery experience in an agile environment with proven experience in developing enterprise, web, and / or mobile applications.
- Experience delivering applications at scale through agile frameworks such as SAFe.
- Strong experience developing and interfacing with database technologies is required (Oracle, MongoDB preferred).
- Strong DevOps foundation, including fluency with CI/CD, quality/security/performance automation is required.
- Expertise in cloud technologies and platforms, including Azure and AWS, knowledge of data networking is required.
- Hands-on experience with Oracle database performance improvement and optimization is a plus.
- Experience with Relational, document databases and PL/SQL required.
- Experience developing for OAuth and integrating IAM platforms is preferred.
- Experience in Web Component Development for J2EE Platform and Java 2 Platform preferred.
- Experience working with REST and SOAP based web-services preferred.
- Experience with Postman, SOAPUI, Mockito preferred.
- Excellent organization and planning skills with ability to multi-task.
- Self-directed, results-oriented individual who can independently handle and thrive with multiple priorities.

Benefits & conditions
The Base Salary range displayed below reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for each of DIRECTV’s 4 (four) US Labor Market Zones. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
DIRECTV WAGE ZONES: $147,830 - $268,307
Low (N1): $147,830 - $221,645
Mid (N2): $155,610 - $233,310
High (N3): $171,171 - $256,641
Top (N4): $178,952 - $268,307, Please note that the salary ranges reflect base salary only and do not include bonus or benefits - when you consider all of these together, it represents a pretty impressive total compensation package., Handle inbound calls and warm leads, assess customers’ insurance needs, recommend appropriate property and casualty coverages, and convert prospects into policyholders. The role includes paid training and licensing, customer consultation, sales closing, brand representation, and adherence to remote-work requirements. Representatives must work four weekdays and one weekend day on assigned shifts and maintain a dedicated workspace with reliable wired high-speed internet.
