Payroll Systems Consultant

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Payroll Systems Consultant in San Francisco, CA. Summary: We are seeking a Payroll Systems Consultant to support payroll process assessments, system configuration, and implementation activities across payroll platforms such as Workday, ADP, Deltek Costpoint, or similar systems. This role evaluates payroll processes, workflows, controls, and compliance while delivering recommendations for process improvement, automation, and system optimization. The ideal candidate combines strong payroll expertise with hands-on systems experience to support organizations through payroll transformation, implementation, or stabilization initiatives. Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct end-to-end payroll assessments across processes, workflows, controls, and system integrations
• Support payroll system configuration, testing, and implementation activities
• Evaluate payroll schedules, reconciliations, exceptions, and regulatory compliance
• Identify operational, compliance, and system risks and recommend corrective actions
• Support data conversion, validation, and migration activities related to payroll systems
• Partner with HR, Finance, and IT teams to align payroll processes with system capabilities
• Support testing cycles, including UAT and production validation
• Strengthen payroll policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Provide recommendations for automation, scalability, and process improvement

• Deliver documentation, reporting, and executive-level project updates

• Experience with payroll systems such as Workday, ADP, Deltek Costpoint, UKG/Kronos, or similar platforms
• Experience supporting payroll system implementations or transformations
• Strong understanding of payroll processes, compliance, and reconciliations

• Experience with testing, validation, and data conversion activities
• Experience with multi-state or multi-country payroll compliance
• Experience with payroll integrations and interfaces
• ERP implementation experience (Workday, SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft)
• Consulting or advisory experience supporting payroll transformation projects
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
