Job description

SYSTEMTEC is seeking a Network Engineer for a on-site opportunity for candidates in Columbia, SC. Candidate will provide hands-on support for enterprise network infrastructure in a large, complex environment, ensuring reliable wired and wireless connectivity, network performance, and security. This role will combine network operations, infrastructure deployment, troubleshooting, maintenance, and incident response in a fully onsite setting., * Monitor, maintain, and support enterprise wired and wireless network infrastructure to promote availability, reliability, and optimal performance.

  • Install, configure, rack, stack, cable, test, and deploy network equipment as part of infrastructure implementation and field support activities.
  • Investigate and resolve network incidents through monitoring, analysis, configuration validation, equipment testing, and root-cause troubleshooting.
  • Perform upgrades, patching, configuration changes, performance improvements, and other scheduled maintenance while minimizing service interruptions.
  • Support network security technologies, including firewalls, VPNs, access controls, and related security services, and assist with security incident response.
  • Maintain accurate network diagrams, technical documentation, incident records, and operational procedures while collaborating with engineering, security, infrastructure teams, vendors, and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to provide sponsorship or work with Third-Party agencies.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • 2+ years of experience supporting enterprise network technologies, including switching, routing, wireless networking, and TCP/IP.
  • 2+ years of experience configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, and Fortinet network equipment.
  • 2+ years of experience troubleshooting network connectivity, performance, and security issues using standard diagnostic methods and tools.
  • 2+ years of experience with network security technologies, including firewalls, VPNs, access controls, and related security practices.
  • 2+ years of experience installing and supporting network infrastructure, including racking, stacking, cabling, configuration, and equipment testing.
  • Working knowledge of OSPF, BGP, VLANs, spanning tree, and high-availability network architectures.
  • Experience maintaining network documentation, diagrams, operational records, and technical procedures.
  • Must be a South Carolina resident or willing to relocate to South Carolina at personal expense before starting ability to work fully onsite and participate in an on-call rotation is required.

Preferred Skills/Experience of the Network Engineer:

  • Experience supporting large-scale enterprise or higher education network environments.
  • Experience administering and troubleshooting wireless networks in high-density environments.
  • Familiarity with NAC, multi-factor authentication, network monitoring, logging, and performance-management solutions.
  • Experience with network automation, scripting, or infrastructure-management tools such as Python, Ansible, or APIs.
  • Experience with network upgrades, migrations, and hardware lifecycle replacement projects.
  • Familiarity with ITIL-based incident, problem, and change management processes.
  • Networking certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, JNCIS/JNCIP, ACNT, ACSA, ACMA, FCA, or FCP.
